By NO means do I expect to be "pampered and coddled"... And I need nobody to come to my rescue! Lap of luxury?? Anyone who would expect that in this type of job is a total moron! Trucking is a tough industry, and I'm well aware of that. I can handle pretty much anything that's thrown at me. I'm not talking about the physical aspects of the job. So you had to sleep on a piece of plywood, awwwww, you poor thang! And if your trainer slapped you upside the head for screwing up, he was just as much of an a-hole as the person I'm speaking to now. You actually think that physical or mental abuse helps you learn better??? I'm not a freakin' idiot, I can learn without it being beaten into me. Whether a truck driver or an office executive, we're supposed to be "professionals" out there!
My so-called trainer was supposed to be a 'team mate' and out there to teach me driving techniques and how to be a safe, productive driver; not belittle and torment me, so all I could think about was what a #### she was! I've dealt with disgruntled customers more times than I can remember in my lifetime; and can handle it, with a smile, but I do NOT expected to be treated like a piece of #### by a co-worker at the same company, because it somehow makes her feel important! It's uncalled for, unethical and nobody should have to put up with it!!
PS... you should really use the "spellcheck" that's available for you on here. It's the little ABC with a checkmark on the upper right-hand side of the screen. (which is ------> that way)

This is were i differ from alot of people in the ''new world'' order.I am from a tough generation and what we called ''tough love'' back then is called ''abuse'' know.So were do you draw the line.
I am just from the tough love society and i don't agree with this thing called ''hold my hand''..and ''group hugs''...
I truly believe you shot yourself in the foot because your ''feelings'' got hurt..boo hooo..You have to toughen up and take it like we all did and move on..
Know it sounds like its to late. You acted irrationally and took off and seem to have quit...(KNOW WHAT)?You shot yourself in the foot.I'm sorry..but now she is out there moving on and making money and you are on a forum crying and no job or money. She beat you and discouraged you.So she ultimately one.
People need to get over this ''new world'' order of ''feelings''.Sometimes you have to set that all aside and improvise, adapt and overcome. This is not the 1st time in trucking you will be faced with ''abusive'' people. They are all over this business.
Me on the other hand would of gave it right back to her and made her life hell...lmao..but thats me...
Know stop the whinning and get back out there somehow and do what you gotta do to make it all happen...Just like i have to do this week also.I am no different then you,but i will not let anyone stand in my way of my personal sucess. It is a lesson learned...so move on,kick a.z.z.,take names and get back in that seat if you want it that bad.If not stay home and work in an office or something else.
I am sorry i am from a different generation of people then you.I am a firm believer in tough love....trucking will test every feeling you got every day 24/7...its the nature of this business. Its always been that way...You have to be very tough out there, especially as a woman.woman take alot of crap out there.I have seen this for 22 years and what woman go through..
For all you no she was testing you...You just don't no...My trainer was hell on wheels and very tough and i look back at that prick and thank him everyday for what he taught me...

Tough love is one thing, being a class A, 4 Star is something else entirely.
-
what you may think in your perceptions as ''class act A'',very well can be true to (you).Another person may percieve it totally 100% different, and view it very helpful..
That is a seperate issue on defining ''perception''.. -

I can certainly agree with you about a younger generation of wimps in this world these days, however I doubt vickster is one. Everyone should go back to page one, read the first post and read the description, and ways of "trainer".
I would have lasted less than 5 minutes with this POS in my truck. Or whoevers truck. How vickster lastest however many weeks with that stinking loudmouth pig is beyond me.The Challenger, 1pissedoffdriver, Vickster O and 1 other person Thank this. -
Sorry Vickster. But i am still about ''tough love'' not severe abuse''..
I hope you can at least get trained right and go driving with the hubby...Winchester Magnum Thanks this. -
t seems like every time you get someone who has had a bad start in the industry, you get these old salts who start reminiscing about how tough it was for them back in the Flintstones days. SO WHAT.
Should the new driver have to sell out and bend over to toughen up to deal with a crappy trainer or company? Maybe for the weak, but why should the companies not have standards and then follow those standards and get rid of those who do not conform to them. Then people could be confident on what to expect in a training program or when it comes to company policy.
This notion that one should have to suffer because thats the way it was in the past is bull. The goal of most previous generations is to make it better for future generations. Not have them repeat the past because they put up with it and where to weak to stand up for themselves.
No one is soft because they do not want to put up with work place abuses. The ones that put up with it and then later remince about it like some badge of Honor are the ones who are soft. The ones who stand up for their rights and have morals and principal that they live by and don't take crap from those who perpetrate bad behavior are the tough ones.Vickster O Thanks this. -
What i am about to add has nothing to do with vickster. This is some other topic.but since we are here...........
Well we made it to soft in many ways for the ''next'' generation.I mean c'mon open your eyes. The ''new'' generation wants it coddled to them in many ways. And with todays economy the only people that are going to make it are the ''hard'' ones. The things everyone takes for granted are not going to be there today,so you and me and alot of people are going to have to ''toughen up'' and sweat it out.
The new generation are going to go into ''withdrawl'' without there ''cuddle'' bear at night. They will enter a world of ''survival'' that they are not accustomed to,where us ''flintstones'' will move forward and succeed.Today the new breed are going to have to put up with the things they cant have anymore. Its plain and simple.Cost of living is very hi and no jobs and crappy pay.So they need to improvise and overcome, just like me.
So i agree to disagree on this to a point. You need to be ''tough'' in the world today.Cuudling is not going to kick it.Silver spoon aint gonna do it.Group hugs aint gonna work.i am sorry but we need to stay tough,be tough and kick butt and take names. -
That doesn't necessarily have to do with age or the generations. I was raised to fend for myself, and I have raised my kids the same way. And, 1POD, you and I are the same age if you are telling the truth.
I know I am.

I would have gotten off that truck in a heartbeat. When I trained people, I did it w/o the extra pay and that was for retail. Vickster will find a better job and make more than that pos.
