No worries. I’m indifferent to pirates, but I will tell you what creeps me out...those Russian nesting dolls or whatever they’re called. I had a dream that the very last one had a knife. When I see them I beat them with a hammer. Ugh. Creepy ####ing things.

With regard to your parents you wrote..."I’ve always lived my life to make them proud of how they raised their kids and who’s son I was , it drives me to this day."
Response... I always felt the same way, but sadly and to my regret, I never felt that I measured up. Don't misunderstand me... I don't feel like a total failure but I always felt like I should have done better. There again, I take complete responsibility for my sucess's and failures. I look back and I have a good idea of where I went right and wrong. To make matters even worse, I was raised Catholic. When it comes to self analysis and regrets for my mistakes (sins), as a Catholic, I'm great at beating myself up but there again, luckily, I am aware of the fact that we Catholics impose impossible standards on ourselves and I can kind of ease up on myself when I'm giving myself a good "beating" lol... So, let me come to the point of all of this reflection and explanation stuff, because it all ties in to my original post. There! I'm finally getting to it lol.
Some people in this thread chimed in with responses that I never expected, and your responses are a great example. As I grow more geezerly, I have to be careful about shooting my mouth off and especially careful about what comes out. And when I wrote my original post, I worried about whether I would sound like a narrow minded fool or would my feelings on the subject be seen as a worthwhile.
But there has been a real surprise in this thread. While I never expected everyone to agree, the disagreements have remained civil in tone and content. That is where I feel this thread is a huge success. While we whom are more or less in agreement, having voiced our opinion with grace and dignified restraint, those who disagreed did so as well. So I'd say that the people whom participated in this thread are pretty special and this (for lack of a better term) 'exercise' has been a real success. I don't think anyone has delusions of having changed anything other than maybe we all have had a chance to look at ourselves and others as individuals with the right to feel and do as we want, and maybe by stepping back and being openminded to one another's opinions helps all of us to be a better person.Omega1, Gearjammin' Penguin, 4mer trucker and 2 others Thank this. -

Almost anyone I know who is successful or has spent anytime on this planet has had failures and made major mistakes . I can assure you I fall in that category from failed businesses to failed relationships ,a fast lifestyle of woman ,niteclubs and other things in my 20's and 30's . I never lost the values my parents instilled in me , but let the excitement of a fast lifestyle side track me.we grow by our mistakes and go through different stages in our lives.
As far as being Catholic, I was baptized catholic but we didn't attend church much, but were raised with Christian values. I was baptized again with my family in 2012 and attend a strong faith based church and it's a anchor in my life that really gives me peace in a crazy world.I have people ask me if I'm religious and I say no, Religions were created by men ,I'm a forgiven sinner strong in my faith in God and Jesus forever grateful for the gift given to me on that cross in Calvary. I live my life in a state of gratefulness and Thank him everyday for uncountable blessings. It gives you an inner calmness that's hard to explain. Sorry to offend anyone ( especially atheists ...I love debating them lol!!) I'm not talking religion here,I'm talking faith.
I also agree about the tone and level of civil discourse this thread has inspired on both sides of the coin, and maybe it might change a mind or two about dressing and presenting themselves in a more respectful manner and how it effects their personal and professional lives and more importantly their outlook on life and their chosen profession..
,Gearjammin' Penguin and 2old Thank this. -
An observation I made in Toledo Ohio the other day was of an Asian driver and it occurred to me I never see those people looking like pigs or bag ladies and they are always polite .
