GENERALLY when you hit something in your personal vehicle or get hit etc. If there is no police action, no wrecker or ambulance/coroner call.. there isn't anything to report. Ive had a few dings along the way that the Trucking Company knows nothing about because it did not show up on my State Driving Record. Which is what the employer will pull to check on me once a year signing that annual paper.
Now if you hit stuff with a big truck, you absolutely have to let the company know, preferably before the screaming wounded are loaded into the ambulance. The last vehicle I hit, my employer sent a agent with powers of all sorts including firing me if the inspection of me turns out to be really bad at the scene.
I have done damage with my personal vehicle to other things and generally took care of it cash. When you hand over enough cash, there is nothing to report. It's taken care of quietly. I remember one time I punched out a lady's tail light assembly shoving that heap off the roadway and it took a certain amount of cash plus a new replacement assembly to cover her damage without the Law getting involved. And it was taken care of. -
