Had my first "incident" today.

I see those at LOTS of places. Both sides.

 

Because it's not at a Wal-Mart dock.

 

Congratuations. You just had your first DACcident. It's a piddly little thing your company will use against you to keep you from going somewhere else. Not much damage. No one hurt. Nothing towed. Companies LOVE these. You just became an indentured servant, at least as long as you stay in trucking. That's what DAC is about. Killing your prospects so you can't quit or to make you have to go crawling back. Companies will forget to get you home, forget to give you that demurge pay, forget this, forget that. But they won't forget to give you a DACmark to make you look less attractive to a competing carrier. If you look less attractive, you may not be able to quit and go to a better job. You'll be stuck right there. Hate to say it, but they're going to treat this like you turned the rig over on a loaded school bus. You'll see I'm right real soon.

 

It's there to protect the building and also drivers can use it as a guide to get square in the door.

 

I wouldn't even have reported it; it's just a little dent anyway.

 

See I don’t agree it’s my truck. I paid for it I know it’s no big deal that scratch. But GD why? I would have #####ed him at best maybe asked him if he had a mcbitcoin for a free Big Mac But sweet Jesus I like my stuff nice and perfect.

Before I started driving semis for a living i ran a trackhoe for a large grading company. My boss at the time had a saying that has always stuck with me.

"There's two kinds of accidents, the kind you learn from and don't repeat and the kind you don't".

Companies that hire new drivers assume you're going to make rookie mistakes. It's if you learn from today's mishap that matters. In other words, you won't be fired and as long as you don't repeat the mistake, you'll be able to move onto bigger and better.

I'm starting my sixth year soon. It was 5.5 years ago that I ran into a similar situation as yours. Learn and move on.

I was at Modine yesterday and they had those too. I didn't even see them until I was pulling out to close my doors. Many were mangled. What idiot decided those things were a good idea?
