The cases you are talking about have all been dismissed. I am a Landstar Agent myself and very proud of the company in which I work under. I disagree with you when you say drivers are getting scammed. You BCO's know up front how much you all are getting paid,how much % of the load you will get and it is your responsibility to keep track of that. As far as you paying stuff when you were not on the road then every company is like that from my knwoledge. As far as you dead heading. You are a o/o. In other words you are not a company driver. If you chose to set your truck and not run then that is up to you and if you say you have been with them for 11 years I find it hard to believe that LS is gonna call you and ask you why you are setting. When I started with Landstar I was told UPFRONT that my business is what I put into it. And you BCO's are no exception! Remember there is a lot of difference between a o/o and a co driver As far as the Agent showing you what we do on our side of the fence is pretty well set in concrete. I do believe in my opinion you were mislead as to "what money goes where and how much of it" and I do find, again, after you say you were there 11 years you still don't know how to figure out how much you are getting paid. I break down my load details for the BCO's sol they know how much they will make. All of the drivers I have dealt with will set on the phone with me while I give them that information to see how much they will make. I do know a LOT of LS drivers and have known them for years. They all have nothing bad to say aboout LS cause what they put into running their truck is what they get out of it. Some of them was even shocked as to your post and even offer to help you figure your money. There is drivers who knows to the PENNY what they are gonna make on a load. There is a contract you sign to get on with them and maybe you didn't read it or comprehend it as well as most BCO's. Yall's contracts ae pretty sraight up from what I have been told. It even has the percentages and all in them as well. Maybe the people standing around with smiling faces was in disbelief of you not knowing how to figure your money, I'm not sure. But in my experience so far with LS and well as any other company out there, they are all on the same level. You have to take the good with the bad in this industry but one thing is certain, I am very proud to represent Landstar and the drivers behind the name!

 

I agree with LSInway, I have personally known quite a few landstar oos, it is one of the best leases out there. On the road taxes,if you are a good oo business minded person you will keep your road taxes to a minimum,by buying fuel at the right times and places. lease to buy your own trailer. I have watched my friends all over this country,get their loads from landstar on their computers, all the loads are listed and $ per mile, its very hard to cheat you when you see the posted loads right in front of you. they would pick their load and still call and make sure of all the specs etc. as far as the surcharge is concerned,alot of companies are not paying you the full surcharge,they are supposed to. I believe landstar is still one of the better ones out there,but some folks have said it has changed some but they are still there. they too,like to stay out for awhile come home when they feel like it and landstar still treats them right when they call back for new loads. most of the companies out there want full control over you,when you stay off a few days they hold it against you and give you the lousy paying loads in the middle of nowhere.

 

OK LSInway.... If im paying 2% for insurance, like ive been told. I want a copy of that policy. I may need to file a claim someday. What kind of insurance is it????? The health insurance for the people at the corporate office?????

 

How did the suit get dismissed ooida won that suit earlier this year, I knew Landstar would appeal it but I have never heard it was dismissed.

 

I think you have been mislead, I have searched all over and there is no evidence that this case has been dismissed, the only news of this is that OOIDA won the right for class action lawsuit and Landstar is appealing.

 

For the record, what the inway guy said is false. OOIDA and Landstar was scheduled for court this month but was postponed until Jan 07 by the judge. Please again, when making accusations, please make them factual!!!
