i am an owner for swift. this is the only trucking job that i have ever had. i have been here for 6 years. my truck is almost paid for. i will be seking other employment at that time because it is my opinion that swift has grown to fast more than doubling there drivers in the 6 years that i have been here. while thier freight availability has not grown so much. also thier suport personel has also not changed which means that all the people in the office are doing double duty. when i first started driving for them freight was plentyful and i rarly got less than 3000 miles per week but now they are spreding it to thin. terminals all full no room to take showers or do laundry. forget about getting work done on your truck at the terminal unless you want to wait sometimes 2-3 days. although it is less exspensive to get work done at the terminal who wants to sit for 2-3 days. its my opinion that swift only wants 1st year drivers or trainers. they want you to quit after the first year so they can replace you with a less experianced and cheaper driver. but for a driver just starting out you will make more money the first year at swift than with most other companys. they have always keep thier word and done what they said they would do with me although i have heard that that is not the case with all drivers.

 

all the storys are true, swift will screw you! just ask me.. i will give u details if interested. i just quit them after 2 years... stay away from swift!!!!!

I'm a driver with 15 years experience. I drove for Swift for almost 4 years.
Last Thursday I was fired. I was local in Chicago and delivered Costco freight around Chicago for 2 years.
In Chicago especially around construction people get p... off easy. I had a couple of people call the company on me, got written up for it. Well a third person called in, I was told that I could have not done what they said I done. let me go. But they told me one more person calls in Im fired. I was trying not to get anyone angry with me, going in the slow lane, not being aggressive
To make a long story short, A Swift OTR driver called in on me saying that I turned right in the left lane On Costcos property. (had a blue air line leaking bad) turned in the Ta and went back to costco.
I really Hope that OTR driver is happy now. My dac is ruined, I will probably Not get another job.I tryed to get hired by Ryder, even tho the add is still in the paper, the told me the vacancies are all filled. I have bills to pay!
Can anyone help me?
