I hate to think it needs to be done again but it does. Time to bring this post to the forefront once again. It makes good sence to me and it should to you.

Drivers, read what it says and use your best judgment.

So 074344, can I ask what company you drive for? I am getting ready to go to CDL school to enter the trucking industry and I am trying to do as much research as possible to find a good company to start with. Thanks.

Do you think some companies just might have some drivers retiring, leaving a good job for a better job, or maybe for local jobs? Could those companies possibly just want to fill "THOSE" seats and grow their businesses? Can't take on more freight and new customers if you don't have drivers to haul it. Just a thought.

I don't think so. Do you? Look at the same companies who advertise all of the time. Think as to why and their turnover rate. It should be clear. Or not.

I disagree, in part with the OP hypothesis. Not all companies who advertise, extensively and have a high turnover are bad companies.

Let's take a look at TMC and I choose TMC because it is the only company I have experience with. Many of you may have an opinion of them. Be that as it may, I think most will still consider them a good company, yet they advertise all over the internet, in local papers, billboards, national magazines and have recruiters visiting truck driving schools.

This does indicate a high turnover rate. What is the real reason of this turnover? I say it is because TMC is a training company and takes chances on drivers whose only experience is with there truck driving school. In other words, they have little to no experience and don't know what they are getting themselves into.

They have some romantic idea that truck driving is like Smoky and the Bandit, all fun and games. Reality sets in and they find themselves unable to handle the hours, the physical labor, time away from home and numerous other reasons.

All these other companies that are claiming to have such a low turnover rate, essentially are letting training companies do all their weeding out of the sick, lame, lazy and disillusioned.

I would venture to say this is a problem that all training companies have and is a vast part of how we perceive them. A major part of the blame should be put where it is deserved, on the wannabe driver that can't hack the job, any job.

    Hate me if you must.

You try to disprove the OP by using TMC as an example for your argument ...LOL TMC is like CR England only pulling a skateboard with a flashy Peterbilt instead of a reefer with a freightliner century.

No, I'm using you. You couldn't hack it, so TMC must be to blame. Wake up and smell the coffee.

Why would a driver hack driving for a second rate OTR flatbed company like TMC ...only a fool would stay at a company like TMC . They buy those flashY black/chrome Peterbilts to sucker in drivers who lack much of an I.Q.tht are lured in by a flashy ride . The TMC drivers lounge always looked like they were holding a telethon there .

Nobody is arguing with your statements about how things SHOULD be, however things are different now than they were 20 years ago when you started out! If you can find me a local gig that pays by the hour AND hires students I will kiss your you know what!.................lol
