So XP enters extended support meaning security fixes will be available for 5 more years at minimum. No rush to get rid of it yet.

Personally I have had no problems with Vista on my laptop. I run Ubuntu on my desktop but never seem to use it since I started driving. Ubuntu is getting almost as bloated as Microsoft OS's it seems.

Anyway, there's many non destructive ways to try out Linux. Live CD's, virtual machines such as vmware, virtual box etc., or installs into vitual partitions. Of course they don't run as well as a proper install. Distro Watch is a great place to find info on all the distros.

You can always run Linux as the main OS and run XP in virtual box, vmware etc. as a way to run the windows software on Linux.

Yeh...but I haven't been able to steal it yet. I don't pay for software, other than my anti-virus. :biggrin_25525:

Well I got vicious Vista 64 bit loaded but what a headache it has been to get there. Microsoft has not learned from XP 64bit nightmare. They must think they are gods in Redmond and no one else is allowed to use any other signed drivers but there own. I'm not even sure if I want to try loading Windows 7.

Well you paid for 1 more than I did! In fact, I'm sitting here playing with Quickbooks premier, Peachtree Complete Accounting, PCMiler, and CoPilot 10 live trying to figure out a good OTR combo...and haven't even hit the road yet lol.. (isohunt was good to me today)

Ok well I did pay for PGP whole disk encryption.

I think the driver was ok, it was vista being flakey. I'm going to reload the driver that I got from Intel and see what it does in vista. If it works, I'm going reload the OS again. I want it in a raid configuration under the controllers control.
