There are no liability issues and yes the dealer will turn that third party stuff off, most will not because they are lazy but it is all done within the ecm and cruise will not be effected.

    Why?

Because the manufacturer does not make special ecm firmware to use with these third party devices, and just have the option there to make it easier for them to build trucks in mass. And also if the third party device is added there is no need to reflash the ecm, just have the option turned on.

That's funny mine is connected with the abs as well as the cruse control running through the main high speed data link. Oh and yes it dose have its own computer. One of 27 in this dang truck. It's a Volvo every thing is proprietary. You contacted Volvo corporate and spoke with an engineer and was to.d that because of the liability they would not remove the system.

I have a KW T680 and was told Wingman was a standard feature when the truck was built. While it is a 3rd party component, their rational is so is most of the truck (engine, trans, brakes, etc..). Dealer says for fear of being dragged into a potential lawsuit if their was an accident, they won't turn if off even with a signed waiver.

I realize this is from last year, but we are not lazy. Just another ignorant dealer basher with only a channel 19 education. With Internationals, that is a factory or engineering level programming to remove that feature from the engine. You cannot down grade the ABS ECU at all, it is hard-chipped inside the module. To remove that feature you have to physically replace the ABS module with a standard unit. And for sure, we are not interested in getting ourselves locked up into a potential lawsuit and it is the main reason we do not remove them.

All you people saying you need this system shouldn't be driving a truck at all . It's a dangerous system and I hope the first driver wrecked by it on slick roads sues Bendix and the truck manufacturer into oblivion .

Professional drivers don't need them. Managers, owners and insurance companies do.

500 dollars please. And you did not see me today attached to your truck with a laptop. Or any day.

You would think you can disable it yourself. Or better yet buy a truck without that feature. What is the attraction to that particular tractor anyway?
