At around 10pm. I had an airline on the trailer fail with the smoking of brakes. Particularly one tire. So my haz trailer wouldn't move. I took a bolt into the hole and a bit of duct tape to get the rig 6 feet off the side of the road instead of 2 feet. 1230 am road service shows up and I'm moving. If I had a simple air line repair kit I would have been moving right away.

 

Taking my canceled load from last week down for delivery in Baltimore tuesday. Dispatch is working on a nice little circuit for me so I hope it all comes together. Basically wash out in Bmore and reload in Newark for a delivery in Pittsburgh and then top load in Ohio and take that back home. Should make for a nice easy week.

 

didnt end up doing any of the airport runs, just did another baltimore out n back with a backhaul. Easy week, monday-thursday only slept in the truck 2 nights and grossed over $5k.
This week I'm probably just going to do a run to WV and back nothing special. I'm trying to avoid driving on Fridays until after this last summer holiday. After next Monday the traffic situation will be 100% better with all the kids back in school and summer vacation officially over.

So about how much is that going to net you?

 

Not sure on the total gross because I don't know what the backhaul pays. It used to be $600 on top of the regular linehaul so lets say total gross is $5600.
2300ish miles @ .50/mi = $1150 fuel
plates permits escrow is around $250 (per week)
I add another $300 per week for maintenance (budget 20k/year maintenance with 5k coming out of escrow)
Tolls are around $400 for both round trips
I pay myself $1000/week and with payroll taxes that comes out to roughly 1200
truck note is 300/week
IRA 100/week
Health 100/week

Total expenses $3800 for the week, so my business will net pre-tax 1800, after taxes probably around $1400. So theoreticaly I netted a little less than half if you count my salary and business profit. Unfortunately not every week is like that.

 

I’m still debating on plunging on my own truck and coming back to Superior but it’s difficult to give up a cushy 70-75k Job with weekends off. But if I can probably net around 80k I would
