What is the model year on the engine? If 1999 or older it's exempt. If newer it's not.

We have trucks in our little fleet that are exempt, but they all have ELDs in them, and they work. So, I would not base my purchase decision upon an ELD. I would be looking for reliability and fuel mileage. And if considering a Fitzgerald truck, make sure it has the Detroit Factory Remanufactured motor under the hood. You do not want the Fitzgerald in house reman, as they use inferior Chinese parts vs the Detroit OEM parts found in the Detroit factory reman motor.

The Fitzgerald reman is made in house and warrantied through Fitzgerald. The Detroit OEM motor is a $5000+ up charge.
The Fitzgerald motors were failing at 200,000 miles, Chinese parts and a really bad in house tuner. I learned this when down in Atlanta in framing my truck. I visited a shop that had over 200 of these Fitzgerald rigs, they had a few Detroit motors on the shop floor, it was an interesting conversation.Last edited: Aug 29, 2018

Your oil should be at 70psi on a healthy 12.7. 50psi is an old engine pressure. Your mains are getting wore out.
