I make it sound bad because its the truth. For my situation yes but also for just about every other swift driver I know.

My DM is a complete idiot. I'm sure he is the problem here and once I get rid of him then all will be well. I don't complain about loads or anything for that matter. I take whatever they send me unless I know I can't do it like the time they gave me a load from El Paso to Richmond VA due the next day... my idle time, out of route miles, and everything is well within goals.

My DM even told me I'm doing a great job...

Today was the last straw for me with my current DM... on Wednesday we had a phone conversation detailing a bunch of payroll related issues... 3 short hauls I didn't get paid for, and 4 layover days, plus a couple of small issues. I even joked with him and told him if I was getting miles I wouldn't even care about these petty payroll issues as much. Anyway I went online to swiftdrivers.com and looked at my pay stub for next week... 13 dollars and 32 cents..... I had 3 short trips and a 250 mile run.... which would have been ok if I got paid for the layover and short hauls... and they took a lumper fee out... have no clue where the reimb is at.

but... I'm not going to complain. I'll just let my cell phone get disconnected.... not really any other choices...

so for me.. yes it really is that bad.

I really don't know what else to say other than the fact that even after all I have been through swift really is NOT that bad of a company to work for. It just makes it hard when you got an idiot DM that don't give a darn about nothing but himself.

Memphis. Things are starting to get better. 2,300 miles in the last week and finally got all my pay issues resolved.

Even thought I have had some hectic times at Swift they are a good company (notice i did not say great) to work for. The benefits are good, and there are SOME people who give a darn. For the most part they have been ok. The 2 issues I have are my pay not being correct and having to keep on em about it and miles. Miles are bad for everyone right now and the pay issues I have had I am sure not everyone has them.

If you read my posts on this site you will find that I pretty much tell it like it is (for me) and some posts I am pissed and others like this one I'm ok. Just depends on what day you catch me on.

Good luck with the double clutching...

Thats cool. Hope its someone you can get along with. My mentor and I got along really well even though he didn't show me EVERYTHING there is he did an ok job. We were on the Fed Ex dedicated account and we had the same runs all the time. Memphis to Newark, NJ and back and Memphis to Charleston, SC and back. I got used to NJ after a few times. The only dissadvantage being with this mentor was the fact that we had the same runs all the time and I was never challenged to actually find a shipper or destination (consignee). I also never backed in at a truck stop or scaled a load (all the fed ex loads were 20,000 or less).

When I got out on my own I had some trouble in those areas but finally got a system down where its easier (like writing directions down AND checking with the facilities where I'm going to make sure the company directions were correct. They don't even know the correct directions to some of the terminals lol. The directions on the Qualcomm are correct about 20% of the time. Sometimes they don't have directions (thank god I got a laptop and internet).

    Have fun!

Just wondering how's it going for you these days. Thinking about Swift as opposed to a private school. Are they still taking people that are in Florida?

Hey macho52! Not sure WHY this post got sent out today.... all this info is from Dec. best I can tell! FYI... I'm so glad you and my son finally got to meet, and he tells me that he talks to you often! That's great. He's so far doing fabulous with Swift, and is most happy with the new life style! It didn't take long for us to realize the ones that talk bad about ANY company, are normally the ones that have a bad attitude, and it wouldn't matter which company, or what type of job, they'd still be crying the blues over something!
Take care out there and be safe on that road guys! We'll hope to hear from you sooooon!!
