need advice on how to build a high horsepower c-16

I had the stock injectors in it (10r0957). I wanted to upgrade when I did the injectors but I didn't want to go with the 59's because of all the smoke. I decided to go with the 6TS (I think late 90's 475-550 after the 5EK series)injectors which are the 10r0958. I got them from Pittsburg Power because they extrude hone the tips so they match the flow.

 

Pitts Power is selling the stock Lipe rated at 2250 Ft/Lbs of torque. This isn't enough of torque rating for a very strong C-16. But they can get you a custom built Lipe that can handle over 3000 Ft/Lbs of torque with no problems.

 

Is that possible? C-18 block is 3 cm higher than C-16, or so they told us when they started using them here.

 

Cat lists the block as a different part number but when you check the spec section of the manual the specs are for all C15/16/18 blocks of all serial number prefixes. The crank centre line to deck surface is 16.750 inchs (for a new block) regardless weather it is a 15,16 or 18.

 

The truck pullers are taking C-18 parts and installing them in 3406B blocks..........for a mechanical 18 liter engine.

 

With 800 plus h/p and when you hit the hills tell me see how warm she will run up a 6 per cent hill with a radiator designed for half the h/p?

 

With fan on in my L i can run 6% with 50lbs boost all day long at 200*F, Pete rad is a different story i hear.

 

I see the overheats from too small of radiators and too long of hills. I know you trucker like h/p but the radiator should not be overlooked.

 

Thats the good thing about a high horsepower diesel, if things get too hot you can just back off the throttle a bit and the temp will come back down.

 

You have to believe that if the guy is building a truck from the ground up he'll do a rad. for it,especially if he is going to run some bigger HP numbers.I'm sure there is always a hill somewhere long enough to get things a little too hot and if he doesn't have the sense to deal with it, he'll learn really quick!
