Trying to figure out the best way to get a load with two stops dropped and the next load picked up using the 8/2 split, or if he should just stick with a 10 hour reset. Feedback would be apprciated.

    Scenario 1:
    After 10 hour break was on duty/driving until 12:30p today - time left on clock 6:57 (11)/ 6:03 (4)/ 37:40
Sleeper for 8 hours - until 8:30 pm
    On duty/drive 6 hours until 2:30 am - 0:57 / 0:03 / 31:40
    Sleeper for 4 hours until 6:30 am - 5:30 / 5:00 / 31:40
    On duty / drive 5 hours until 11:30 am - 0:30 / 0 / 26:40
at that point another 8 or 10 hour break is required, yes?

You'll be out of hours on your 14 at 10:30 am.

The 8 hours in the berth stopped the clock. The 4 hours in the berth satisfied the rest of the split requirement but did not stop the clock and effectively moved the start of the 14 hour window to 8:30 PM

    New scenario:
4:40 am to 9:30 am on duty / drive
9:30 am to 12:00 pm sleeper
    12:00 pm to 12:40 pm drive left on clock: 6:57 (11) / 6:03 (14) / 37:40
12:40 pm to 8:40 pm sleeper
    8:40 pm to 2:30 am on duty / drive 5:00 / 8:00 / 31:40
    2:30 a to 6:30 a sleeper
    6:30 a to 12:30 p on duty / drive
at that point his 14 is up and needs at least 8 hrs to reset?

    Same answer as above basically.

8 hours in the berth stops the clock, anything less doesn't.

So after the 02:30 to 06:30 (or any period of at least 2 hours off duty) the calculation of the 14 moves to a starting point where the last 8 hour or longer period in the berth ended.

So it ended at 20:40 which means the 14 is up at 10:40.

Thanks. I forgot the 8 hr pauses the clock but the 2 hour doesn't. Waiting 5 hrs to load is killing the rest of the week.

    Once you start a 14.

Tick tock tick tock. At some point you will stop on the 14th hour.

It is not good to have multi stop loads, they are a parasite that munches on your ability to run miles. Stopping is to lose time and money.

Just a point of contention here, but taking anything more than 2 hours to get the rest of your times back is a waste. Since the clock doesn't stop, going over 2 hours actually cuts into the drive time he's gonna be receiving.

Multi stop loads are not a parasite. They usually pay better so I prefer them. The trick is figure out how to master your time.

Im sorry I can' answer either of your scenarios. I don' understand them, tmi for me. (I doubt im alone there)
Try asking this way. After a 10 hour break. Starting with a fresh 14.
    Drive x hours.
Stop for x time/ (off or on duty doesn't matter.
    Drive for x hours.
    Sleeper birth for x hours
Don' need all the times and other stuff. Just need to no drove for how long. Stopped for how long. Sleeper for how long.

Always was a subject for debate.Under old rules drivers always believed you needed a 8 hr break after splitting. I once split log for 3 weeks straight. Never heard from safety.I showed log book to another driver to prove point. I honestly don’t see any benefit to it now with the 14 hr rule. What am I missing here?Is it possible to gain 2 hrs on the 14 by taking an 8 in bunk?A simple basic example mane anyone?
