I see where he is coming from. I also understands his audience runs from the gamut from the barely educated to the highly educated, so he keeps it simple (but not stupid). That being said, it is better to keep current on a $5,000 credit card heading towards collection than pay off a $1,000 loan just to be free and clear of it.
How much money do you save a month and how to save money OTR

I would rather die rich than poor. The thought of being too old to work and not having enough to support myself fills me with dread. Imagibe being 85 and not knowing where your next meal is coming from Too many retirees out there faced with the choice of buying food or keeping the lights on.
RedRover, x1Heavy, spyder7723 and 2 others Thank this. -

The most important thing about saving is changing your lifestyle to match your goals. I have friends that can't pay rent because they blow money on booze and cigarettes.
I had to change my spending habits out of necessity.
You can't expect save if you are the like the fatty in the previous post with a box of pizza and candy bars.
It takes commitment and sacrifice.
Advertising and marketing companies know we are weak and compulsive and they prey on our weaknesses. That's why candy bars are within arms reach in the check out line.
Recognize when you are being manipulated and give "the man" the middle finger.
my 2 cents.
I'm in a bit of a dilemma. I'm about to start my OTR driving career and don't own my own passenger vehicle. On one hand, once on the road I'll save by not having a car payment or insurance. On the other hand it presents a problem getting to the terminal or drop yard. I live in an area that I'll most certainly have to drive a distance to get to the terminal. Depending on which carrier I decide to go with, it could be 1-5 hours drive. I'm sure I'm not the only single, solo OTR in this situation. What have others done?
