Winter and OTR driving ... it happens.... But if I could do I40 south vs I90 north in the winter.... that is a no brainer for me. My miles will rack up on 40 and south... vs sitting out blizzards and chaining on 90 North. Unless they pay to sit out black ice and closed interstates. Accidents. etc....
But I've done that in my past.... given the choice for me..... SW winters will do just fine. If I have to work ND area, so be it.

Well, Phoenix hasnt been to kind, the dust there is killing his asthma and jobs are hard to come by, anything all that great anyways. After losses of jobs, we dont have very much, so if winter is too harsh, we dont have a lot to move to relocate him. He has a few job prospects in ND so hes willing to give it a shot. Right now we are just trying to lay roots somewhere that's a little kinder in life, despite the risk of hypothermia and frostbite haha.

They do keep us running with more southern routes during the winter, and we do get paid if weather prevents us from driving of I remember correctly. I brought the mileage during winter up just yesterday, and was told we will still get the miles in the southern routes. However, I have yet to experience it (soon though, apparently lol), but i tend to believe them as they have yet to fabricate anything at this point. Which, after CRST, is mind blowing haha!

I grew up in a little town North of Grand Forks, yup people up there are the salt of the earth. Life there moves at a different pace, especially in the winter. FIY the Red River used to flood every once in a while. Don't buy property too close to the river.

Watch the movie Fargo especially the first 15 minutes or so. The lady sheriff sounds just like my sister. Best of luck, keep us updated!!

I work for a company down the road from S&S and now I'm wishing I started with S&S instead. I talked to Brian a few months back. But I chose the smaller company. That seems to be in money trouble.
How much is S&S paying you?

You are absolutely right! The people are so friendly and down to earth everywhere I've been in Grand Forks, it was almost a culture shock. I love the movie Fargo! I just love the accents folks have, I could listen to it all day lol.

You are the second person to warn me about the river, thank you! I will avoid those areas, cant have the horses swimming around my house lol.
