I don't have time to put up links but they will be added come morning after the new updates from NHC and other sources.

It has been shifted north pending Landfall in less than 72 hours to near Cape Hatteras Light NC outerbanks.

It's going to go through past Raleigh to about Roanoke and then die pouring rain over everything. They are expecting 2 to 3 FEET if not 4 feet or more total rain by next Monday.

As a trucker I tell you right now, forget I-81, I-40, I-77 Fancy Gap etc. Forget all of that. Forget 64, especially 26 and so forth.

They are pretty much out of grocery and everything else. They are crying to restock everything retail. That is probably not going to happen until after the storm.

The last storm that we had was Camille for one and Hazel for the other that came past DC among others not so serious. If this track continues to slide north at or just past Hatteras Light on landfall, it could possibly go up the Chesapeake Bay which will absolutely cause millions of problems.

This is one storm I am hoping to see the #### thing turn to sea and go away. But it's too big and too much inertia and mass. It's going to need a thousand miles to do a turn now at it's extreme gross weight and strength. Which stands at 150 mph sustained by morning 9-11 until Thursday AM landfall. 90 miles across and then tropical storm force winds at 40 to 70 with higher gusts about 240 miles across.

Edit.. Norfolk Bridges will absolutely close up once the winds approach a certain power. You will need to be at 45000 in the trailer loaded at 79000 or higher to use the CBBT for example until 60 mph, then they will slam that bridge shut. That one is usually the last to close as the others are closed whenever the Navy wants out which is probably what is going to happen if they are not already out with the British QE2 carrier.

    And more rain than God.

Having come through Harvey and watching my mother's home fill with 4 feet of water on the North side of Houston, I'm praying for everyone in Florence's path.

I just talked to my wife in Massachusetts and told her to make sure everything is stocked up(food,water,batteries,etc.). Our area got drenched with what used to be Tropical Storm Gordon and we’re keeping our eyes on Florence,Issac and Helene. The last major tropical cyclone to hit our area was Hurricane Irene back in 2011. With that storm we got hit by the northeast quadrant of it(the worst part). It was more wind than anything else, with very little rain. We actually dodged a bullet, the worst part we had was a power outage lasting six hours, 125 miles to the west in New York and Vermont, they had to deal with bridges being damaged and trees down everywhere.

I-26 will be all lanes ONE DIRECTION towards COLUMBIA from Charlestown only starting at Noon today (Tues)

SC has ordered everyone in coastal out as has NC and sections of VA starting at sunrise. Looks like between 1.4 to 2 million plus will be on the move. Between Norfolk to Charlestown at least.

NC has ordered all outerbanks OUT. Does not matter what you are. Visitor, Resident etc.

Virginia's Hampton Roads and Virginia Eastern Shore ordered OUT as of 8 am today.

I'll try to put up some more as the day progresses in the am.

Bottom of Texas below Houston may be dealing with a new storm called Joyce should it complete being formed west off Cuba in the Straits and move into the Gulf near the Texas Coast. Probably more rain for them.

They anticipate over a million to evacuate. The experts don't expect as much damage as Harvey, but those high winds and rain for days is going to be brutal. It's looking like rain will stretch across NC all the way to the TN line

I-95 is going to be FUBAR'ed. In the South Carolina Area. You pretty much can write off this highway and a number of smaller connecting routes that will mostlly be converted to one way or being converted as I write this.

    Evacuation Routes

I have not found any other similar routes, but you can bet that as this thing develops there will be a hash made of I-95, I-85, I-75 and so on over time rather quickly. Probably between the Georgia State Line all the way up towards St Petersburg-Richmond area within a day or two.

You are probably around 40 million of people between say Wakefield down to Charlotte. If even 20% decide to get going... there isnt enough gas stations, not enough of anything to support this refugee exodus. They might try to do it anyway.

That evacuation supply issue is serious. When Galveston and Houston started evacuating North as Ike rolled in, the stations on Hwy 59 were stripped bare and out of fuel as far North as Henderson. We had no gas in our town for two days.

Ike hit us as a Cat 2 full on and we're 215 miles from the coast. Power was out here for 5 days and there wasn't a shelter or hotel room for 100 miles. We took in a couple from Galveston with three dogs here for 7 days.

If you're inland and can offer a safe haven for evacuees, contact your local Red Cross and get on the list to do so. Some folks will be fleeing with pets or health issues and little money. Just a warm bed, clean water and food can be its own miracle.

Reminds me of 2005,when we had so many tropical cyclones that we actually ran out of names on the list and actually went to using the Greek alphabet (1st time in recorded history). When Hurricane Rita went into the Gulf and became a full blown Category 5 monster all you saw on the news were vehicles stuck on the highways going out of Houston because people had run OUT OF FUEL!! If Rita hadn’t made landfall where it did (near the Texas/Louisiana border) the impact would’ve been more catastrophic than it was, with a possible higher death toll!
