Tug toy,you remind me of me when I was younger. You seem to have an ag background like me,always working on your truck or trailer to try and improve it,make it nicer and safer. Hats off. And you have old Internationals like I always did,lol..
I know some guys say they don't want to be an O/O because they didn't want to have to work on their trucks when they came home from the road. I used to look forward to that, tinkering and working on mine. Been retired 3 years now, can't say I miss trucking a whole lot,but I sure miss my old truck.

Decided to actually take a bit of a break this morning. Got news that my next load headed south isn't going to be in until late tonight, and I won't be going anywhere till tomorrow morning.
So, should be an easy day today. Just waiting to hear if I'm going to deliver what I picked up or not.

I rolled in to this little mom n pop truck stop around 1:30 am. Parked near an oversize load on what appeared to be a 48’ flat. No other trucks in the area. He rolled out while ago with a tail light hanging by the wires. No answer on the radio as he jumped on the highway.
Ya know, I may not drag the creeper out every day, but I ALWAYS, at the very least, walk around and check the tires, hub oil sight glass, look at brakes/check for wheel seal leaks, lug nuts, and lights. Then throw the hood up and check the oil, pull the slacks and stuff. A tail light hanging by the wires would not be missed if a guy just walked around the truck. Tells me he didn’t check his securement either.
I didn’t wanna make a rant out of this, but dang, I’ve got a wife, kids, and grandkids. We gotta share the highways with these folks.2CAN, Oxbow, Shock Therapy and 21 others Thank this. -
