Please give advice for the RV community

RV'ers will not move on, they will park in the back, or in the bus spots. the busses come in and go rather quickly, as the bus drivers are also on a times run/route, so it's usually only dinner break for them.

i do look good in a bikini, don't i...????

 

If it's a designated rv spot, it's fine. Just like a handicap spot. Trucker ain't parking there anyway.

If your too tired to drive and screwed up your trip planning by not booking a nice campground, or weather hits, guess your coming on in.

Truth be told, most truckers don't like parking in truck stops. They're not very nice places.

 

Common sense and general rules of the road apply. Stay in the right-hand lane unless you’re passing. I agree with what a former poster said about passing on a grade and then coming over in front of a truck on the downgrade. That creates a very dangerous situation. Stay in the left lane in that example, and if the truck needs to pass you on the right as he picks up speed on the downgrade, so be it.

As for all of us, situational awareness is critical.

You can look up Hours of Service FMCSA on google. There is a whole books worth of time based regulations. The modern computer ELD's in many tractor trailers enforce it to the minute these days.

Once I am up and out of breakfast, time to work. I have 11 hours to get 600 miles. There is a mandatory break time of 30 minutes which will be thrown away because it's a product of a politician who does not understand you need to keep the left door shut. Once you get moving, you don't stop except to fuel etc.

It's 24 7 based. So 11 hours then 10 to rest is still less than 24 hours to midnight, back to another 11 hours into sunrise. 1200 miles goal.

Im pretty sure RV's dont have time based laws.

 

Park at them all the time. But given the choice between truck stop, walmart, rest area, or staying on site at shipper, I ain't picking truck stop.

 

Truth be told, most RVers don’t enjoy parking at a truck stop. It is not the experience that most are in search of.

 

I think the key takeaway here is that RVs should never take a big rig parking space in a truck stop. Park in a designated RV space if available or go somewhere that is set up for the RV crowd.

Being an RVer, you have lots of flexibility in your schedule that the truckers don't and that means you can alter your route to find a suitable place for the night.
