I'm alive. I never let my team driver go. Who makes this #### up??? He took month off cuz I told him to. We're out now.

    I got my new trailer.

It's absolutely ####ty out here. Rates are terrible and I can't keep this truck moving. Who takes this cheap ####?? I don't understand it.

900 miles IL to TX, $2200. I would laugh at that rate for a solo run, much less a team run. That's just absolute crap. $2000 is the absolute minimum a load should pay a team for one day, morning delivery. I saw a team load for 300 miles. Who needs a team for that? And who would book it for $800? People are out of their minds.

There are way too many trucks out there now.
I hope they all go broke sooner rather than later.
They will. At least I have a big enough bankroll right now to where I don't have to care about it.

    Yet.

    Two things need to happen.

    1) Anyone who drives a commercial vehicle interstate needs to be a US Citizen or legal permanent resident who has been here for at least 5 years,
    2) Every carrier needs to submit proof of worker's comp insurance for every truck they own.

I havent smoked a cigarette in almost 96 hours and I'm really wanting one at the moment. The nicorette is good but no substitute for the real thing.

I wish I could hold one between my fingers now.

Just imagining it makes my brain start to release endorphins in anticipation of that sweet tobacco-ee plume of goodness that would course through my veins, lighting up each nerve ending and sending signals of pleasure and satisfaction while I just lay back, close my eyes and suck in that nicotene the way a hungry baby would suck on a bottle.

    Great post.

My favorite part is reading to the bottom and seeing you in throws of withdrawals. I started laughing Man. Sorry ‘bout that. I’m stuck at the J in Patteson, Ca. and bored senseless and your pain brought me a laugh.

Btw congrats on the 96 hours. You can do it man. Good on you.

    Everybody hates mega's.
Says they drive the rates down.
I've seen a explosion of 20 year old junk trucks
And trailers over take the highways in the past
    5 years.

I see just as many as them in a day as
    I see mega's.
    Driven mostly by foreigners.
I doubt they paid 20 grand total for the
    Truck and trailer.

I have no idea how anybody with a truck
Or lease payment could even compete
    With them on rates.
Not only do they not have a truck payment,
They don't spend a nickel on maintenance.

Some of that stuff doesn't even look
    Road worthy.
Dot just lets them roll right along.

Call me crazy but swear they are overtaking
    Everybody else out here.

Picking on old trucks ? Bite your tongue. Mine is a 1994 379 and is solid as can be. Maintenance is priority..... I stay on top of it. And looks better than all the new s*^# that is out there.

Cheap freight you all say ?......... seems like it’s time for a change. I’m doing well where I’m at, (knock on wood)..... and yes..... I have that cushion. If it’s slow.... I welcome it.

That got me laughing. I quit about 4 months ago after 32 years of smoking a least a pack a day. The sooner you quit the better. I’m really having lung problems at 47 years old. I wish you the best!

What happens at 5 years of being a citizen or resident that makes a person able to drive a truck? Why not apply that restriction to every job?

    That's my point.
How can someone with a 800 a week
    Truck payment compete someone with
    No payment on rates.

Seems like one could easily drive
The other out of business because they
    Can pull loads cheaper.

Having a paid off truck isn't any advantage. Older trucks still need repairs. Now being able to do your own mechanic work I'm sure saves a bunch. But the $15,000/year difference isn't really much. It's adding up all the little things.
Doing little maintenance, bringing in foreign workers and paying them 15-20 cents per mile and no workers comp, no taxes, trust me, they ain't paying taxes.

As far as foreign people driving trucks, I was actually being polite.

I don't believe anyone should be legally allowed to work in the US unless they are a US citizen.
I don't even believe anyone should be allowed to step foot in the US without being a citizen.
And I don't believe in immigration.

Too many #### people in this country already. Need to stop it for a while and absorb what we do have.

Well there’s the intrastate rules and international “rules”. If I’m not registered in Tx as an out of state entity doing business in Tx ($800 or so) and don’t have a Tx dot number (another $300 or so), then technically I’m not allowed to pu in tx and deliver in tx. Same thing with Canadian/ Mexican carriers. International carriers are only supposed to pu out of country, deliver in the US, pu in the US and deliver out of country and/or vice versa. Does it ever get enforced?, either rule? Not much from what I’ve seen I say!
