Stopped a major eff up today ! Had to shuddle a D8 down the road 35 miles to pickup my load because some idiot company driver didn't verify serial number of machine. Pulled in the yard a Lyle the yard forman came up to me and asked if I could help a driver load a 594 sideboom. Walked over to the driver's trailer and seen what he had and advised him to NOT load it. Driver said he has hauled that kind of weight before with an arrogant demeaner. I said ok partner it's your funeral. Loaded the sideboom and told him to lift his hydraulic neck to see if it is sitting level. Pulled the lever and the cylinders kept going and going and going till they bottomed out. The front of deck was 6 inches off the ground and the center of deck was firmly still sittin on ground.....we stood there for a few seconds not a word was said till I turned and looked at driver and blurted so, you hauled this kind of weight before huh ? I turned and walked back to my truck.....he had a 40 ton rgn with a flimsy home made flip axle. The truck was a 379 pete that looked like it should of been parked decades ago ! Needless to say he left empty......so I get a call an hour ago.....guess what I have to load in the morning ? ....DOH !

Gotta spend it to make it!!! Least that's what they tell me!
The family that owns that company started out with a pickup and a backhoe back in the 80's now they are one of the biggest and most well respected crane companies in our area. Have every size crane from an 8 ton Jekko that you walk behind all the way up to a 900t Liebherr. They would have a 1200 ton Liebherr but nobody around here would permit it to move even stripped bare bones.

IMG_7051.PNG Another flat top I went and looked at.... actually the 1st truck I looked at, could have drove it home but, I seen $4000 + needed just in the rear suspension and axles. And that didn't include tires. This one was in south east KY.

Neat old FLC there. Interesting stripe design, never seen that one before.

I would like that, shorter and a smaller bunk. Spent alot of time in some just like it. Different strips. But if it was in KY, it either hauled steel, or a coal bucket. Either way a hard life.
