[QUOTE. But there have been some references to the beach-bum look.[/QUOTE]

    Hey I Resemble that Remark.

Grew up a beach Bum on the lake shore of Lake Michigan up until about my teens 35 years ago ,and yes I wore flip flops than, even on the planter and Combine.

Moved to Florida and walked around in shorts with no shirt or shoes for many years after that.

    Lol... you resemble that? Badumbum!
So you were a genuine flip flop farmer turned beach bum?

I hear that flip flop look is catching on in the combine world.... badumbum!

This is not just indicative of the trucking industry but of society in general. Back in the 60's people were in dresses, suits and ties for church, dinner out and many other activities. You would seldom see someone out in public, whether it was the grocery store or church in a baseball cap, shorts and a tee-shirt, with hair a mess. Is it less than appropriate now that it was back then? Some might say yes, others not so much. It seems as if we have all lost a bit of civility, in dress, manners, acceptance of others. This begs the flowing question: Is the person who spends the day in pajama pants lazy and uncouth, or do they have it all figured out?

Didn't see that one but I like Douglas and Duvall is terrific. So, if you recommend it I'll watch it?

This slothful appearance irks me the most when flying. You see entire families in an airplane dressed like they are about scrub toilets. Actual pajama bottoms, flip flops, hair unwashed, no bra and baggy eyed - that's the mom. They carry on throughout the flight, leave garbage all over the floor and aisle around them, make noise etc etc. They get off in a foreign country and wonder why Americans are viewed as pigs by other civilized societies.

I'm not saying dress up to fly, but it is possible to be comfortable and not look like trash. Heck, even Miss Piggy managed to dress well.
