Had a friend that worked at Advanced. I would go there and hang out and install starters, thermostats and alternators. One day, I see a kid, late teens, with the bonnet up, 2 aerosol cans spraying, saturating the engine bay. His pretty girlfriend with hair to her waist standing beside him. I didn’t know what he was doing and so, I took a closer look at those aerosol cans. Starter Fluid. I snatched a can out of his hand. What the hell are you doing?

The kid looks shocked, “That guy there (points at a young parts helper) told me to do this.”

I hand him the can back, and showed him the rear label. Turn your car off and read this. Don’t spray anything!

I walk inside and see my buddy, Bob! That kid out there is idling his engine and saturating his engine bay with starter fluid!

All the customers in line looked shocked and Bob is ready to panick. I point at the parts boy, He told that kid to do it. If a fireball had blown out, it would have krinkled all that girl’s pretty hair and her daddy would come down here wanting to shoot everyone in this store.

Bob is speechless. He looks at the parts boy.

The parts boy says,”He has a vacuum leak. That’s how you check for vacuum leaks!”

That’s how YOU check for vacuum leaks. You don’t tell a customer to spray down a hot running engine with flammable spray!

A customer in line looks at the parts s boy and says, “You’re an idiot!”

I went to Nissan for an oil filter.

I need an oil filter for a 1993 twinturbo.

“What’s the vin number?”

All Zs use the same oil filter. Just get me one. My car is at home. I don’t know the VIN.

“Well, I need the vin number to ensure that I get you the correct filter.”

You’re about useless, aren’t you? Is there anyone else here?

(manager walks up)

“Sir, may I help you?”

Yes, I need an oil filter for a 93 Zed.

“What’s your vin number?”

 

You would think a place that wants to take your money would just... take your money?

What’s the saying? The customer is always right?

 

Two weeks ago
“I need a chunk of 1.5 inch heater hose”
What’s it for?
“It’s for wrapping air lines so they don’t rub”

Uhhhhhhhhh.... I don’t think-
“Yeah, you stay out here I’m gonna go get what I need in the back, you help the next guy and just be ready to ring up what I bring out”

 

Thanks. It isn't too bad. Falling as snow, hitting the ground as rain. I'm just worried about going to whatever my reload might be empty.

This close to the mountains, weather like this isn't that uncommon at this time of year.

I just don't like snow.
