Yes I wanted to see what everything weighed, I wont be using the jeep at all, the way I have this trailer speced is actually for the new truck whenever it comes to be, The old truck has the stupid 60" spacing's and not enough fifth wheel slide to be able to get 20,000 on the steer axle. They new truck will be setup to match this trailer, with the flip down I'll be able to get 20,000 on every axle right now I'm limited to about 15,500 on the steer. My current trailer has a 108' swing clearance and with my drop up I can get 17,500 on the steer and 50,000 on the drives which covers literally 90% of what I haul. I speced this one with a 96" swing without the flip and 132" with it down, so as it stands without my flip I can run in the same hole and get 17'500 on the steer and 50,000 on the drives. It did end up being a tick heaver than I wanted which is going to eat into payload. We discussed this because I wanted them to be aware of it ahead of time. There's really nothing that I can haul right now that I wont be able to with they new trailer, 613's and 544's will be a permit load now but we have a 35 ton detach that I can pull so thats no problem plus the other guy can haul that stuff.

I went to a 50" spacing on the trailer axles instead of a 60" like the Talbert, this lightened up the back as well as should eliminate a lot of tire scrub because I do a LOT of hard backing that really twists the rear axles.so what I ended up with is a trailer that's 2' shorter with 21" more deck that I can haul our usual stuff on and be legal and productive. I got the wheel covers because I haul so much misc. stuff that I felt like it would benefit being able to put stuff there with out getting into the tires. I got them removable so that when I'm to scale the bigger stuff I can get as light as possible. The ramps at the back of the deck are removable because the block the pins that hold the deck to the bogie so in order to get the pins out you have to pull the ramps. As far as the 450 goes I'm moving it onsite it just has to go up the road a 1/4 mile but its curbed in and surrounded with finished asphalt. I will take a picture I will in the morning if you want. Right now it has the deck and wheel covers and no flip or 4th axle. We're just going to run it up on the deck and move it we're not concerned with scaling it. After the 450 move I'll just go do normal stuff so I'll need my deck. the plan is to be able to move 450's and 400's with the counterweights on and 627's fully dressed, these are things we move more than the 550 and bigger. My thought was the 750's and 390 (550 won't change) we will have to do more tear down but they don't move as much and the 450's etc. will require no tear down so in \terms of labor we will be ahead.

That's a lot of rambling so let me know what I missed.

Sorry. I’ve waited too many times. Nothing like knocking 20-30 minutes out of your day JUST get on the fuel island. Nevermind getting out of their poorly designed parking lots.

Two more weeks of Melton’s Loves and Pilot happy fuel solutions and I’ll be Loves free. Forever.

So what’s the empty weight? Are you getting more payload than what you currently have or does the added weight eat into that?

Sounds like you’re the right Man for the job. I’ll tell ya that :)

Thanks JD, I appreciate the explanation!
It now makes sense about the flip neck with a new tractor.
How much do you lose in capacity going to the 50" spacing vs 60"? My trailer is 48', but with 60" spacing I have only a 21' deck, and I can definitely relate to the abuse the axles and tires take on one of those 4 point turns into a site. So far the deck length hasn't been a problem unless we haul 740s or bigger, at which time it is a pain in the posterior. The new tractor will hopefully have a better turning radius as well eh?
