    It boggles my mind that there ISN'T a securement endorsement for open deck. It would be best if it was a written test and maybe throw in some actual securement on standard loads, including coils.

    I absolutely agree. Since ELD's became mandatory shippers or receivers can't play the "just fudge your logs" game anymore. I get anywhere from $50-$105 per hour detention, depending on the customer contract. Two days ago I got eight hours in the sleeper berth, paid $85 an hour to sleep, got a split 8 and made delivery before the receiver called it a day. As soon as the company man started mumbling about fudging log books I said, "I can't, I'm on ELD". Case closed. Momma got new shoes...

    ... really nice shoes.

    This exactly what I'm saying. A written test proving knowledge of the basics found in the FMCSA Cargo Securement guide would be ideal. There's one for doubles, passenger and HAZMAT so having one for open deck is a no brainer to me.
