Just printed off my instructions for my Peoplenet. Reminder to anyone reading this. DOT is checking to make sure you have a copy of your ELD instructions. Peoplenet or Qualcomm or whatever you have. Need to have instructions in your 'book'. They'll write you a ticket on it if not.

    So anyways ....
I sit here with 9 months experience. No moving violations. No accidents.
One year ago. I was on this site. Submitting applications like crazy. Researching, learning. CDL school didn't start for me till November. Only thing stopping my house and car from being repossessed was Unemployment. Got Grant for CDL school. Now I employ people.
Got a bunch of companies who keep checking with me. Gotta say I'm pretty happy where I'm at. But if I ever want to go O/O. I really need to get on with a reefer or dry van company. Get the experience. Not much in the way of O/O for pneumatic tanker. I admit I do know a guy here where I live who is an O/O with a pneumatic tanker. He does cement powder. Really good guy. Used to park his truck next to my trash truck here in Rapid.
Also have a company very interested in me once I get my year in. It's chemicals in a smooth bore tanker. That's out of Omaha.
I keep thinking about things. Have to admit. Upper management here looks out for me. I like that alot. Cause for much loyalty.

Miss Ed, Lepton1, kemosabi49 and 2 others Thank this.

Independent of what? Do you want to go O/O?

Independent of others. As much as possible.
When I started this a year ago. I thought I might be able to do that in a company job. I wasn't considering ever going O/O or L/O.
I do have higher priorities. I am more interested in witnessing mankind destroy himself. I know it's coming. I see it coming. I see people begging for it. I don't have much belief in any kind of future in this world. I live with consideration of living forever. Not for what I can get here.

Yet, I do have the intelligence to run my own business. Meaning being an O/O. I have much to learn. But can do that.
When I started a year ago. All I was interested in was paying off my house. I'm not coming close to doing that. It's even difficult to get my house straightened out and selling it in my situation.

I do think I should get my year in with this company. Think deeply about things between now and then. I have much I would need to change if I did go O/O. I also should get experience in reefer. Unless I want to do tanker as an O/O.

O/O does appeal to me. I am realistic. It's a whole lot more work.

Amongst the things I need to do at home. Have to refinish the window sills. They are stained and varnished.
I stained the bad three. (only three others). But geesh. Couldn't sit here with windows open. Felt rather sick from the fumes. So I think it wise to hold off here. At least I got those straightened out. Still need to varnish. But gonna wait till I got home time during summer. Can do it with windows open.
I need to finish replacing some baseboards too. So will have to stain and varnish those too.
I'd rather do it with satin finish varnish. But the rest is shiny. Don't really want to do the whole house. Don't have time. The rest isn't in great shape. But geesh... pay somebody to do it?
Need to paint a couple bedrooms. And...

    SingingWolf Thanks this.

It's worth the independence. Not having to put up with a landlord. Putting up with less from neighbors. It's all worth it.
Up until OTR. My ability to do anything with this house was dictated by money. Couldn't do many things waiting on income.
Now my problem is time. Not being here.
