Best states to call “home” for OTR truckers

I like the Carolina's. you lots of major interstates running thru, north, south, east and west.
I relocated here from the Catskill Mtn region of NY yrs ago.

 

Looking to be on the gulf, I say Texas. You could also choose Florida but I see folks ##### a lot about freight in and out of of there. Not sure if that'd be an issue or not for ya. Reckon only you can decide that.

@Rideandrepair including the link to an RV group. The link will take you to their "domicile" page. Basically tells you the info on being a resident without putting down roots and how to go about it legally. Three states to choose from Texas, South Dakota, and Florida. Lots of "snowbirds" do what you speak of during the winter. Will hit TX or FL, set up shop for the cold and then dip out again once it starts warming up everywhere else.

I neither endorse Escapee's nor do I not. lol. They are a decent group, and have been around for ages. They are also pros when it comes to getting domiciled without the hassle of property or a physical address. I see they now offer that service, but I believe you can do it without going through them.

I also like the Carolina's...I'm kinda bias though. Plus...we're not on the gulf. The Atlantic yes..gulf..no. lol.

Indiana, cross roads in both van and flatbed freight. Decent cost of living.

 

I’m voting for Nevada. Although describing the weather as warm and balmy is a bit optimistic.

I imagine They will help you get it done legally if you like. Or do it yourself. In the past it was just a step by step process on how to go about it.

An no you don't need to own a RV to make use of the info, or even to join them. If you were to have them do it for you most likely yes you would need a rv. It's just a source of info on how to go about it in Texas, South Dakota or Florida.

Lots of good info on their forums to on the Domicile/Residency subject on their forums to. Lot of people ask this question in the RV community. Who knew two worlds I enjoy...the world of trucking and the world of RV's, would come together. Ha!

Yes they are good. I'm seriously considering switching from my PO Box here, to there. People reading who don't know. I live about three miles from this business.
That way I can receive packages that companies won't sent to PO Boxes. Like Amazon. Just have them forward the package to my PO Box in Kansas.
I am considering moving. Keep my SD residency? Live in Kansas? Or?
My Post office has returned mail on me. Not the best attitude. And it's more expensive.

I'll go over and eat at the flyinj buffet breakfast. I'll take a picture of this place with flyingj in the background. You'll see how close it is. This flyingj has no problem dropping trailers, etc. You could park at the end of the lot right near the mailbox place.
