Does any one know of the states that have "Pay As You Drive" auto insurance ? This is auto insurance for someone who only drive's a car recreationally. Typically they charge a premium of about 20% of the normal monthly premium and then a per mile charge. If you hardly drive you should save a lot on the auto insurance. I am going to get rid of my personal vehicle otherwise unless I can get this and arrange to keep the car in such a state. I pay about $110 a month for the zip code my car is in now and that is just money down the drain.
Best states to call “home” for OTR truckers

I'm not actually a New Yorker...just live here for the time being. I really have no particular roots to any one given place and as the child of an American diplomat and European mom this meant years spent abroad as well. Thanks for the Tennessee suggestion...it's kinda equidistant from clusters of family/friends I have in WI/IL and VA/NC and still plausible to get out to NY and CA periodically with a national carrier. I had a former Tennessean colleague that swears that there is no better BBQ than Memphis-style...

Put the pig in the ground!!!

I don't like Memphis style, dry rub, BBQ. I like the sweet smoky sauce better than the dry rub or vinegar Carolina style BBQ. Personal preference I suppose. We are hot and humid about 9 months of the year. -
China what do you think of Phoenix ? living in the SF Bay area, getting a little pricey.

@WesternPlains has got the right of it. The PO box is also a very big reason why some folks choose the states I mentioned earlier. As a lot of you know, being on the road full time can play havoc with things regular folks take advantage of everyday. Like being able to get packages or use their address for whatever it's needed for, etc.
Ah...Kansas...Nice state. Beautiful I'd even say. Lots of flat ground and some #### awesome thunderstorms. Kinda boring though depending where one is. City life is probably far more exciting. If that's not what you want, then you'll love the rural areas, which is everywhere not in a city. LOL. Quiet, dark, an not a lot of aggravating ########. I can only speak of my time in the SE part of the state in Coffeyville, during my stay with Amazon. They've since closed that FC I hear, so you'll be waiting a tad bit longer for a package.
Not sure I'd give up SD(assuming South Dakota) vs KS though. I think I'd prefer South Dakota despite not having been there. Less people the better is how I feel as I get older. lol. If you mean San Diego though...disregard. I'd choose KS, but hey...I like the isolation more then I like the city life these days.
Your Mileage May Vary aka YMMV.

I don't mind folks who relocate. Just stop trying to make my home be like your old one.
Sirscrapntruckalot - I got 99 problems an tourist ain't one. -
If you don’t mind the weather I’ll put another vote in for South Dakota. If you go looking around some of the smaller farm towns you can get a city lot to park your rv on for less than $5k.NoBigHurry and Sirscrapntruckalot Thank this. -

So hope ya don't mind me chiming in while you wait.
I always felt Phoenix was far more humid then Tucson. Cost of living should be similar tho...translation...not an expensive place to live. Phoenix has plenty of options for a lot of people. Big city, suburb, rural.
Weather...hope you like sun you will get a lot of it. On the the other hand...you ever want snow you only have to drive a couple hours north to Flagstaff. I enjoyed the weather. Still...to this day I'd rather deal with a Tucson/Phoenix summer then the humidity prone to the DC area and mid Atlantic area in general.
Like Mexican? Some great Mexican food. Not sure if Phoenix has one ,but Tucson has an In n' Out if that's your thing.
Perhaps @Dave_in_AZ will chime in. It's his stomping grounds. I just used to come up to raise hell then go back to Tucson to lay low.
I like Arizona much better then I like California. Cheaper, less drama, not as many weirdos, etc etc etc. Go visit. If you like it...stick around. If not..you had a nice trip. Heh.
