I just want to echo everyone else's comments to you Cfl Team - don't give up. Even if you end up having to take a job with a company not high on your list. Things will eventually get better for the industry.

    luvtheroad Thanks this.

it is very hard to keep trying - like CflTeam, i got my CDL in October. have applied local and nationwide.

now my license is "stale" and i will need to go back to my old school for refresher training? with still no job prospects out there? it'll be hard to justify spending money on more training in this economy....

    CflTeam Thanks this.

    No work, no jobs,... TODAY.
Try back in a few years...
Refresher cources are offered to students for FREE w/ some school's, be sure and ask them this BEFORE you start training.
    Thank God, "I'm covered"

Funny, my CDL says good until 2016. Guess the companies know better than the government. Suppose that's not hard to do though.

It could be good until 2050. But once you come out of school, you have 90 days to use it, then the insurance companies consider you to be defective. And in need of additional flogging.

Who paid the goobermint more last year? You or the insurance companies?

    luvtheroad and tz779 Thank this.

yeah and to top it off, I paid insurance companies more than I paid the government. Go figure.

When I finished school in 2007 companies were all over me like a bad suit. (Or like flys on a turd.) Amazing how fast everything went down the toilet.

I'll be in the same boat as all of you are and quite soon... IF it were me, I would continue to apply and reapply if you can. Emails and phone calls also, just dont give up... Keep your name in front of the companies that you want to work for. This economy will get better. :biggrin_25525:

I was listening to an economist earlier tonight, who felt we had hit the peak of this downturn. But, it would remain flat for months to come.

As long as it holds, right here. I think this will be managable for most Americans. Sure we're still going to feel some pain. As represented in this thread.

But produce starts running soon. So some of those hiring freezes should relax.
