BTW They do run some straight trucks. I don’t know if they use them for Dollar Tree. Might be worth a call to the recruiter to ask. Still a hard job unloading by hand.
Get some experience under your belt first, you can always change later. Keep your eyes open. I think you made a good decision.

Do you think that I would be shooting myself in the foot if I were to land a linehaul gig without much experience?

Probably not. I've never understood that thought. P&D is so much more difficult in terms of skills tested on a daily basis due to going into some places not designed for tractor-trailers. However, where linehaul is tricky for inexperienced drivers is in winter weather; OTR guys sometimes have the option to shut down but linehaul drivers can't for the most part. So in that sense, maybe.

I have 3 dollar stores near.me, in city limits. No they do not use straight trucks. Ive seen tractor trailers delivering to them. One of them, the driver has to park and unload in customer parking..which is smaller than youd think.
