I considered this. It might be a worthy risk to save over 50k in the first three to four years. I could get the truck and do all maintenance before I go out. Suspension wheel seals rearend tires etc. If the engine or trans go out on the road I will have to put a new one in it. It will only add value to the truck.

Stuff is only worth what people are willing to pay. I looked at a late 90's Pete cabover with a Cat 3406E last summer. Truck was a beat bag of ####. Needed absolutely everything. Guy was asking 6 figures for it. I'm sorry but no matter how much money you put into that truck it'll NEVER be worth 6 figures. This truck was so rough my lowball offer would have been $7500.

For me it would be a no. I had an old truck it was rusted badly, bolts were seized. Trying to get good mechanics to work on it was a Hassel and some refused. Having the truck down for 8 days while living in a crap hotel. I lost 5k net plus paid 2.5 k for the repair and hotel cost. That old truck cost me 8k in 8 days. A truck payment is the motel plus the repair. I put 30 k in repairs in that truck the first year of ownership.

Yea I saw this beautiful redone tricked out International.

They bought it off a dealer with a blown motor after the mechanics thrashed it on the Dyno after hours .

It's a working Show truck now with a pre emission Cummins in it.

One owner with 1175000 on truck and drivetrain.

Folder full of service records, shiny original paint yet , rust free frame.

N-14 with a 13 speed, inside of sleeper is clean and intact.

I thought I just needed a set of new steeers to get in down the road, but after crawling around the motor I have detected a Hard Tock Tock Tock under the rear valve cover.

I have found a few inquiries on the net with no follow up on what the cause was.

Exploratory next week. From what I have researched either a Jake or cam lobe.

I payed 15,000 for the truck so I can afford to pour some money into it.

I got my 98 W9 for $30k,.. I have another $30k in it and couple weeks ago while it was at my mechanic for service he gave me a sticky note with a guys phone number and on it asking me if I will accept $90k for my truck.

The $30k profit is tempting,.. but it took me over a year to find this truck and then 9 months before it was ready to pull a load. So,.. no I dont think I will. I really like this truck.

I think there is a market for hoods if you can find the right buyer. Stupid people with deep pockets seem to be plentiful.

You can't. But he done it to keep which makes money no object. I'm in that boat with my 86 and soon to be my 91. Way more than what they would bring if I wanted them gone quick. Since that ain't gonna happen I don't sweat it much.

Most cant see the fine details that are the difference in a 5 and a 10. So they price their truck as an 8 and hope it sticks. Then get butt hurt when they here I'll pass just really isn't what I'm looking for

I'll definitely get more for my W900A than I paid for it (if I get it finished lol). But add in what I have (and will) spend I'll never see a gain on it. No market for single screws anyways lol.
