Well, after 1.5 years away I’m coming back to the linehaul game. I’m pretty excited. While I liked Mclane there are things about the job that kinda got old. Like I’m not a fan of local city driving which is 40% of the job. So I’ve come to realize I miss the long distance drives. I think going from linehaul to anything else is very hard. So I think linehaul has ruined me. Lol.

The company I’m going to I had a road test. He asked me my experience. After that we grabbed a gear and spotted it in front of his rear box and he seen enough to sign off. This is the 3rd company I didn’t really do a road test. even when I got approved for the USPS I didn’t do a road test. I like that.

 

Hard to make any money when majority of your freight is damaged and have to be returned.

Congrats. Is that LTL company called Old Dominion by any chance?

 

No, I got turned down by them 5 years ago cause I was fresh off losing my job at US Foods less then 2 years. I was only at Reddaway for less then two years at that time. Once you get turned down from OD I guess it’s forever. No biggie their loss. Plus they got a big board so you’ll remain on a crap run for a long time. It’s a big carrier I’ll remain anonymous about who it is until I get some time behind the wheel there. My friend been working for this company for 2 yrs and have been giving me insight about the place which has changed my thoughts of working for them. They pay better cpm out the gate then OD Also their board isn’t huge so a lot of good bids come down even to the lower guys. Like OD you can be on the great wamsutter Wy run for 10+ years before you go east where at the company I’m going to I might see Kansas in less then 5years.

 

Oh yeah then never mind. Can't make money like that.
