Hie Kabar, I just have a few questions. With Knight Refrigerated do they send you anywhere, is the pay and benefits good, and is it a family atmosphere company. And is there a choice between a Pete and A Volvo. Thanks and be safe.:biggrin_25519:

You can run 48 or regional. From where you are you could run out of Dallas doing TX OK and I think LA. not sure on that. The TX and OK I know but I'm not sure if LA is part of it or not. You can also run out of Memphis on the S.E. regional. On the 48 you run where you want to. Like I don't do NYC ever and I try to stay out of the N.E. But you have to all realize that sometimes turning down a load may mean you sit. Without layover pay. So I go just about where ever the load goes. I have a good DM and he works hard to keep me rolling where I like.

I think the Pay is good. On most weeks I take home after tax's $800-1000 and you can choose to get paid daily, IE the next day after you complete a run. Weekly, Whatever in turned in by Tuesday Morn. Or Monthly I don't know why any one would do this. They do have per-diem which they insist you use the 1st week after that you can drop it. Which I did. The Bens aren't bad. About average I'd say. There are better ones out there. But I'll take the freedom they give you to do your job over better bennies and less say.

I's say they are a family company. They know how important it is to be with your family. I never have a problem getting home on time and if I need an extra day or two there cool with it. They don't call and bug me to get back out before I'm ready to.

As for the trucks. To start you have to take whet is available. If there is a choice between a pete 379/387 or a volvo 670 then they will let you take what you like. If not then you have to take what there is and they will get you into what you want when one becomes available. They have the same engine and tranny. The Volvo 670 has more shelfs then the pete 387 and more room then the 379/389.

They run 64 but you have to log no more then 62. If you can get 6.5 mpg and less then 30% idle you get 66, But thats over the life of the truck. Once it drops down it's hard to get back. So I don't worry about it. can't log more then 62 anyway. 64 is a good speed and any kind of down grad gives you 65. They don't care how fast you go down a hill. Just keep it legal. The trucks also have excellent up hill power.

Question for Kabar...if you are making $800-1000 a week take home before taxes and are on the refer side, WHY in the WORLD is my Ex bringing home maybe $200.00? For this past month of Feb he has only brought home $960.00 for the WHOLE MONTH. Could it be him or what? He comes out of the Idaho terminal, things were fine Nov & Dec but have dropped horribly these past two months, almost as if he is on the Dry Van side again....ugh! This is just wrong, maybe he's not running all his loads I don't know I can't trust Truck driving anymore as a steady income.

Quick question, my husband switched from Dry van to Refer side about 4 months ago. I keep asking him what website does the Refer use to look at pay stubs, I assume it is the planetknight but everytime I log in there are no pay stubs what so ever and in fact it stopped when he switched over. I have asked and asked him to get me the info but to no avil....does anyone have an idea where I need to go for the refer side? If so PLEASE help me out. thanks

Call payroll and give them the Employee ID and password you are using and they can tell you. It's my understanding that the planetknight website is for all the divisions including SQUIRE.

It's the company. I ran 1/2 the miles and doubled the paycheck that Knight payed with the company I run for now. Knight takes advantage of their drivers. They use non-forced dispatch and great home time and nice equipment as bait. I know this was a question for kabar but I couldn't help myself. I just didn't want you to think he was not trying.
