I never worried about any of that crap. I was a professional and kept my record clean. I did get some speeding tickets, but not 2 or 3 every other year. Run legal and stay legal. Best way to not be concerned about PSP, CSA or DMV or for that matter DAC!

Insurance companies are beginning to check though. That's the real problem. The Carrier may want to hire a Driver but the insurance company may not cover him or the rates will raise too high for the Carrier to justify bringing him on board. It's getting pretty nasty out here IMO.

Insurance can’t check unless the driver gives them permission.

Then the driver wouldn't be getting hired anyway. I guarantee you eventually it will be as standard as an MVR check. Some are even wording their background check authorization releases to include an MVR with PSP and a credit check.

Anybody who wants that much info from me doesn’t need to be my employer, in my opinion. And the ones that do want all that aren’t going to want to hire me anyway because they’re not going to pay what I’m worth, also my opinion. If they check DAC mine is blank because I’ve never worked anywhere that uses it, my PSP is also blank because I worked for a reputable company and the trucks were known so we weren’t getting inspected all the time. So that tells me that they’re used to dealing with people who hop from mega to mega and won’t want me around so I’ll save them the time of trying to get that info from me.

Permission is one of the papers you sign when hiring on.

Insurance is not the bugaboo some make it out to be. Most carriers are self insured and use an insurance carrier to manage the paperwork. In these situations the trucking carrier sets up what it will allow. Of course not all carriers self insure, however it may surprise you how many are.

On my one week paid vacation, contract is finished, other than the two aforementioned violations, my record is clean.
