Started up like normal, idled low, then died. Haven't been able to start since.

Just replaced PT pump. Was running like new truck. Checked fuel level changed fuel pump.

Will start with ether but won't keep running.

There is a manual screw on the front of the fuel solenoid. Screw it in , I believe , so it will run with no power to it. Check for power to it first. Then if it will not start take the plug out of the side of it and crank the engine. If it is not flowing fuel check for restrictions on the pump supply side. There is a plug on top of the pump, 9/16 wrench ?, If you fill that up with clean fuel it helps new pump start up a lot.

With your description of how your motor decided to “take a nap”. It sounds like it could be one of 3 things, fuel shut off solenoid (mentioned in above replies), air intrusion in you suction side fuel system, or something has come loose or plugged in you newly overhauled pump.

First off, check the fuel shutoff solenoid. Thread the thumb nut in on the front side of it. If it starts and runs thread the nut out to shut her off. Fix the solenoid or power to it.

If that doesn’t get it, start looking for a suction side leak. A loose connector, or wet spot in the fuel line. You truck should be old enough that pulls fuel from the bottom of the tank. If there is a valve on the bottom of the tank. It should be clean on the outside, if it’s wet, it’s leaking. Could pull the line off the bottom and make sure you have good flow. Make sure your fuel filters are tight.

If she Isn’t running by now, check back in. There’s still more to try

What do you think, starter or starter solenoid, or both?

That’s a picture of the fender. I’ll say both.

Starter sounds locked up. Does engine bar over? Hit the starter with a Hammer
