My thinking was, if you had say 10 dry vans, they don't care about age of trailer, you could move a few of these loads locally every day, using their yards as your storage for your trailers.
I had considered if you grossed say 400 a day on 3 loads and only drove maybe 200 miles you could do alright.
Because the rate is so low and the time is so long it really isn't a viable option. So I thought about it for maybe 5 minutes.x1Heavy Thanks this. -
Thanks for all the replies.
I have been calling Walmart and broker repeatedly. They will pay for detention. I will go pick up my trailer tonight, hopefully. Btw, it’s the Walmart DC in Chino, CA.
Thanks again.Mattflat362 and x1Heavy Thank this. -
That is a third party fulfillment center isn't it?
When making a real Walmart appointment you have to set for live unload unless you have a pool agreement with corporate. Usually it is a 24 hour unload. -
If we both are on the same buyer... I have done some local and also brought shipments from QC for them. Only did this when I had more trailers then I needed. Did local twice and they returned the trailer the next day and for QC loads they would keep it for 7 to 10 days and pay @35/day after 3 days.
I will be putting my other trailer on the road and will be doing more of their local drops. They are easy and its better than having a spare trailer sitting in the yard.x1Heavy Thanks this. -
I'm glad you can make it work. It makes no sense for me.
The pay was kind of Lowe.VIDEODROME and x1Heavy Thank this. -
Fulfillment Center? Like in Amazon?
I am taking a second look at my Prime account. I don't feel right participating in a commerce that abuses trucking to that extent.
Im half inclined to leave the ICC Bumper on the warehouse and transload to a legal rental trailer and back to shipper.Mattflat362, Swiss Mountain Dog and Slowpoke KW Thank this. -
IIRC there has been several threads on here about amazon holding trailers and even sending them out with other carriers.
Amazon has never seen any of my money, Walmart see's very very little.whoopNride and x1Heavy Thank this. -
I hear you. I pay very little as possible and only for specific needed items not availible anywhere. It's almost like a very extreme last resort. I probably bought two things in the last 5 years from them.
And no I did not pay the membership fee. It's like 120 a year. A constant drain.Slowpoke KW Thanks this. -
Where the heck are you guys getting this $35 a day crap, that does not even pay for a rental. if it is your trailer, it is a money making tool and if that tool is not there for you to make money then it is the same as the dentition for a day for you and your truck. The game isn't to please someone on the dock, it is all about making money.
Paddlewagon, Mattflat362, RaRa and 5 others Thank this.
