CHAINING...are you ready?

    I was thinking maybe to many drivers had driven over the latch and smashed it to where it wouldnt work anymore... But your Probably right... Everything is going that way now.

    Because stretches of I 70 can get horrendously backed up with trucks chaining, they are posted 30 min limit, if CDOT or CSP is monitoring the areas and it takes too long, they will send the paid help to assist you, or if conditions allow, they might make you turn around and go back. They don't always enforce it, they don't always monitor it, but at the same time, if you can't chain up 4 drives and be rolling in 30 minutes, you might need to start over.

    In the PNW, home of Cascade Concrete snow, we always had two sets of skis: snow skis and rock skis. Same for snowboards. The oldest set is for zooming in rocks. The new set is for when all the rocks are covered.

    Okay, that makes sense. It might be a good way to deal with the guys who camp out in the chainup area waiting for the chain sign to come down.
    Gotta admit though, there are some days when it would take me a lot longer than 30 minutes to hang iron.
