I know some might not like it but the rarest truck in the USA is a Volvo.
It's picture can be found on Hank's.
It's a FH COE (extended sleeper) build in the US.
The thinking is that it was build to test "stuff" and should have been destroyed.
It sits in a yard rusting away.
It is 1 off 1 ever build.Rideandrepair and Oldironfan Thank this. -
Marion would be a rare bird.
Mack AC Chain Drive would be in my book a pretty rare machine.
Here is one for sale. (Disclaimer, I know nothing about selling. Just a example of what is possible in today's money)

I see more FLC set forward axles than FLD.
I myself would not want a set forward axle, except maybe for a play truck.
I think I have driven just about every kind of truck. When I drove for the first time a full size sleeper FLD with a set-back axle, I could not believe how sharply it turned and how easily I could back into a tight spot. No other truck I've ever driven could do that.
I had a GMC General that was a much shorter truck but it had a set forward axle and no way could I back in like the giant Freightliner.
The worst truck of them all for Sharp turning for backing was a Mack vision with a set-back axle.
Here's a sort of rare truck that I would like to have.

The rarest trucks on the road today are the ones driven by a person who knows how to trip plan with an atlas.
TripleSix, Rideandrepair, Feedman and 3 others Thank this. -
I have an old '88 FLB tattooed on the inside of my left bicep. I may spot one in person 6 times a year if im lucky
Oldironfan Thanks this. -
I knew that picture looked familiar...I took it a few years ago at the 75 chrome shop show lol
As for rare trucks, I love some Brockways and autocars.Mattflat362, Feedman, Oldironfan and 1 other person Thank this. -
I still have a soft spot for these. They may not be the prettiest trucks but they're hands down tougher than just about anything on the road today. I was offered these two trucks as they used to belong to someone I know. Turned it down against my better judgement because I had another project on the go. To my knowledge they are both currently being restored.
Mattflat362, Feedman, wore out and 1 other person Thank this.
