    He is talking about placing a large screwdriver or punch in a link that is twisting on you to hold it in place while you ratchet.

    When you hang them up, put a section of chain in the lower loose hook. Stops you from unscrewing, and having to dig out of you rack.

    I did that. Can’t remember who suggested it but it’s genius as far as I’m concerned, lol :)

    @SAR

    D’oh. That makes so much sense now. Why didn’t I think of that :eek::oops:

    Appreciate the tricks here fellas :)

    The less I make myself look like a bloody rookie when I finally gotta use these things...

    Allways ratchet towards yourself, don't push away. Less of a chance of falling on your face when it flips direction or stays neutral. Other than that I would want to have a assistant put them for me.

    When I retired,I cleaned my trailer out,and this is what I was carrying for securements. Just got carried away,didn't realize I had this much stuff hidden away. Those big American made snap binders were probably 50 years old,bought them when I first started.

    @stwik 2 things I reccomend that will help.

    1. A couple rolls of felt to lay on the load before you roll your tarps over it. Its extremely light weight and you just roll it up like a tarp to store it. Also, get some old moving blankets. Those 2 items will save ALOT of wear and tear on tarps.

    2. I use this on my ratchet binders and on my 2 and 4 inch strap ratchets.
    I think youd like it and it's not super messy either. A little goes a long way. Its grease in an aerosol spray can

    Looks like another night in Waco. I think I'm beginning to understand why some people around here would lose their minds and join a crazy cult.

    If your winch bar still has the "safety" nub on the end, have someone use a chopsaw, grinder with a cutoff wheel or take it to a bench grinder and remove it. Then it will fit in the big link between the screw and hook and keep it from twisting. I would never use a cheater on the binder like you do a snap binder because you'll either break the binder, stretch your chain or damage whatever your securing.
