That's not loud. No offense sir.

Let's go root around the Junk Yard truck corner and see if we can come up with a Road Commander COE Turbo, a nice GMC Suicide cab Turbo (This one howls, not whistle...) and my personal favorite the plug it detriot. (It's not working? Stop complaining, rip it off stick a plate (Plug) get going yer late.

Your Ma will be a mite annyed with u a week I reckon. Cannot hear the diner bell, cannot see the chores from the whipping and cannot sit long enough to get any driving done. tks tks tks.

Doesn't Mack run a centrifugal oil filter (spinner)? It would most likely be on the same side of the engine as the turbo. These can tend to remain spinning long after shutdown. With age the bearings can tend to get noisier as well. Double check to use the original Mack filter as aftermarket filters can spin at higher rpm's and take a look at the upper and lower bearings while your in there. I may be way off here, but it was the first thing I thought of.

This mack has 2 normal oil filters on the drivers side of the engine... While I understand that the noise is not loud all things considered, Out of all of the turbo diesel engines I have heard, this turbo is the loudest one thus far upon shutdown. I was just concerned about if the bearings on the turbo may be going out or not.

Are you sure it’s the turbo and not one of those crazy centrifugal oil filter thingys? I ask because i hauled a Mack last trip had one of those on it. Made quite a racket on shut-down.

Well if the starter was engaged you'd here it whining when you tried to start it not when your stopping it as most will reply and ask are you cooling down the turbo? When you pull up after running the engine for hours you should allow it to cool down with a slow idle below 1000 rpm for at least 3 minutes although 5 minutes is better.

If I am not mistaken the E7 has a centrifugal (spinner) oil filter. It will be in a black, cylindrical plastic housing. It continues to spin for about 5-10 seconds after engine shuts down. EDIT. Sorry Wore Out. Just saw your post.

its your centrifugal filter. they seem to be more noticeable when the filter is new. open the hood shut the engine off and put your hand on the centrimack filter you will probably feel it along with the sound. should be the furthest back twards the firewall oil filter with a hose coming off the bottom of it. hearing it spin down is perfectly normal
