New to trucking. Is there anywhere reliable that you are allowed to leave your trailer and run around in the tractor? Thank you

The question is too vague. It depends where you are, and whether there is anywhere safe nearby. You would probably have to get permission from the property owner to leave a trailer, and probably couldn't leave it more than a few hours.

There isn't a location like Wal-Mart or something nationwide?

Nothing consistent, no. Even Walmart is hit and miss.

It would help greatly if you added your hometown to your profile, and then tell us where you're generally going to run.

You might want to check with your employer to see if they will allow you to drop the trailer. A lot of companies don't allow dropping.

Swiss Mountain Dog and JReding Thank this.

Dropping your trailer anywhere but at the customer or a company drop yard isn't usually a good idea.
People steal trailers. They also steal cargo.

You can not just drop a trailer and drive it around like a car, you have to find out what the company policy is and understand the personal conveyance thing is for reasonable limited use. Oh and i think you can't be under load.

True on finding out company policy, but the new rule change does allow movement with load, as long as the load is not being advanced towards the customer.

Dropping a loaded trailer is not without risk. I saw one the other day, the right leg went through the pavement and the left side tires were in the air. The driver was standing there with a perplexed look on his face. I can imagine the conversation with dispatch, probably ended with your fired!
