The wheels are coming off the Volvo Trucks emissions.

European based Volvo (with the largest stock owner being Chinese), was in cahoots with the Obama era EPA to tighten emissions standards and reclassify glider trucks as new. They even supplied glider trucks from a different manufacturer to the EPA for emissions testing. /sarc No conflict of interest there. /end_sarc

They of course want stricter emission limits of NOx so they can raise the price of their emissions equipped trucks even more. They already cost approximately 25% more than a glider with no advantage in emissions over gliders. The emissions levels from neither kind of truck is a threat to public health. They wont be happy until their trucks cost 100% more than gliders.

Anyway , Bloomberg has an article (Bloomberg - Are you a robot?) on "a component degrading faster than expected and potentially leading to the release of emissions exceeding limits" in their trucks. They are blaming the component (catalyst supplier), "Johnson Matthey Plc". Anyone familiar with precious metals will recognize this name. I guess they forgot to put any platinum in their platinum catalytic converter. Their stock price took a big hit on this news

The reason is the volume of trucks @ the dealer vs what it used to be 20 years ago with emmisions/engine faults. Troubleshooting issues is way more time consuming. Used to fit all flash codes for a Cat, Cummins, or Detroit on a nice simple laminated sheet. Not the case anymore, heck they won't even print books because diagnostics change so much and to much volume to print. Software updates are constant and with one fix turns into another problem. It will take another decade at least before we can say the engines and aftertreatment are reliable.

Start reading at article 3 of the Royal Charter for the continuance of the British Broadcasting Corporation:

Fox News is owned by an Australian business man who has no other purpose than to make as much money as possible. Journalistic independence? He laughs about that. His news programs are there to tell the public exactly what the public wants to hear, the truth is of no importance.

This is why many advertisers use Fox News:

Geely Holding owns just 15% of Volvo trucks:
    Ownership information | Volvo Group

The Volvo car producer is owned by the Chinese.

And that statement is based on??? Old engines are just as clean as new ones??
The danger of particle emissions is getting clearer by the day. As well as the implications for your heath, life expectancy, and medical costs. Try reading up.
Platinum is used in catalysts for cars, it seem SCR catalysts use other materials.

Aftertreatment systems DO use platinum and paladium.

According to what I read, the actual catalyst can be titanium-oxide, tungsten-oxide, vanadium-oxide, or a zeolite.
