Getting Computer Diagnostic Tool For Cummins

Id like to get one that works for '05 c15 acert. How much does it cost and where can I get one?

 

I use EFI Live for Duramax tuning and datalogging plus basic scan tool for other random vehicles. The FlashScan is very powerful for such an affordable price. I would definitely investigate the FlashScan HD if I were the OP. It costs the same as a 1 year subscription to the Insite software.

 

There is a new tool from Cummins that plugs in and then blue tooths to your smart phone. It was like $150 but I can’t remember what they call it. Check the website.

 

That is just a code reader. You can get the same information if you have the free website based tool where you enter your engine serial # it will tell you what it is. You need the in dash screen for the fmi and spn numbers to do this.

 

Yeah my Bluetooth one is just to read it like you said and also see inactive codes and what it all means.

I find that the dash display rarely tells me anything of use. “See Owners Manual” “Service on next Service” lol stupid crap. So I bought the tool to help me decide whether it needs to go to Cummins right away or if it can keep trucking until a more opportune time.

 

Mine will clear the off stupid code on its own after usually 4 or 5 engine starts. Happens may be once every 3 or 4 months.

I actually just bought the adapter from a Chinese website and a new laptop. With a hacked version of insite. Adapter and software $550 usd. I can't have no way to reset codes where I run. Western Canada during winter. And some sensor issue I will not let cost me a towing bill and a foreign repair shop if I can help it.
