File a police report on Laredo and see if they are able to view / share images of the truck crossing into Mexico.

I am guessing from OP's story there was no verification. Guy walked in and said "Laredo Load".

One thing to keep in mind is they sell those trucks pretty quick. It may be from an auction down that way and have "Ernesto's Trucking" on the side of it now.

Or maybe it is sitting in a drop yard forgotten.

Wow. Your loader loads a load, and all the info the guy has is “Laredo shipment”?

I just wanted to say thank you for coming up with Palos Garza. Turned out it was that company. We have located our missing freight. Seems we had 2 shipments going to Laredo that day. Penske didn't cancel the Palos truck and Conway had already picked up that load. Then Ernesto shows up and says "Laredo." Our guy puts 8 skids on him. Heaven forbid anyone pay attention to the bol. They delivered the skids to the address on their order in their computer and totally ignored the bol. The freight is sitting at Jamco International in Laredo. Of course they didn't bother calling the phone number that was on every skid. They said they leave it sit until someone calls them! They also said they would be charging a skid fee for us to pick it up. Whatever happen to just doing the right thing?
Anyhow we are so very grateful to you folks for helping. Thank you so much.

Really glad to hear you located your freight. This ought to be a great training tool and a catalyst to make some changes to the warehouse policies in order to make sure this doesn’t happen again. Next time you may not be so lucky.

Yes, I think the warehouse folks will learn from this. I do feel like the other parties involved should also be held responsible though to some degree. 1)You shouldn't pick up freight unless you know it's yours (look at bol). 2) If you are setting up a load and decide to change carriers - cancel the previous carrier! 3) If you receive freight that isn't yours be nice and give the sender a call alerting them.
Most of these loads are set up by ProTrans or Penske. They always put carrier name of Dayton freight (subject to change). They seldom tell us who the carrier will actually be.
We are very small (only 3 employees).
