Hi! I work food service right now. It's a tough job, and I don't want to do it anymore. I also do not like working overnights. I'm looking for a job in Tampa, FL that doesn't have me working so hard, and has me working during regular business hours. I want to stay local so I'm home every night. Of course i want a well paying job too.

I have no clue what companies would be a good fit for me. Or if i should just buy a truck to work. I wouldn't know where to put it to work if i did. If there's anyone that has been in my shoes or has good advice I'd love to hear it. Thank you.

You might try construction.....they are day time only......long hard
days but not usually nights. Lumber companies, concrete, garbage
trucks, Home Depot/ Lowes have delivery trucks and hire drivers
    from time to time.....

Construction companies are definitely an option, but with the caveat of slowing down when the weather gets rough.

I don't want to do labor or be outside all day. In a truck all day is fine though. Are there any local truck driving jobs that just drive during the day? Maybe LTL if it's not too labor intensive?

Go to LTL and do city p&d. Everyone that’s came from Foodservice says it’s night & day difference between labor. City drivers run m-f during the day. You’ll have to pallet jack the stuff on or off but usually at a dock. Some times shipper will load it with a forklift. Abf, Saia, UPSF, Estes, Old Dominion, FedEx Freight, XPO. All the top payers.

Very little labor in fuel trucks. Hook up the hose and gravity does the rest.

Thanks for replies guys. I was looking for a list of the top companies i could possibly work for. Thanks. I thought p&d was a lot of loading and unloading. I dont want to run down that suicide ramp no more haha.

Pull the stuff on and off with a pallet jack. Mostly full pallets. Back up to mostly docks. Some of these companies do residential and stuff. With a liftgate. You might have to two wheel some boxes but your talking a few boxes. Maybe once and awhile. Not a all the time thing. It’s probably half the labor as Foodservice. More stops cause stuff comes off quicker. Imagine if you can take a pallet off with a pallet jack at Foodservice and put in in the store and go “here you go sign here.” That’s LTL city p&d. You can’t go wrong with any of those companies I mentioned.

Yeah I feel ya on the ramp. My body and mentally it was pretty draining. My 2nd round in my trucking career in Foodservice. I tapped out after 1.5 yrs. Im going back LTL linehaul. I’m starting Monday. Anything after Foodservice is gravy trust me.
