They are willing to pay the coyotes to smuggle them over the border and inland. That tells me they don't care about due process or proving a possible real need to move here.

That tells me that it’s easier to pay a coyote thousands of dollars and risk your life marching through the desert than to go through the legal process. The legal process must be really hard.

    I
It's hard for good reasons. Background checks alone to weed out the criminals and potential terrorists alone can take months or longer depending on the country of origin. The caravan marching up here is not full of legit asylum seekers. These are people who know they can effectively scatter in the middle of the US and get away with it.

BTW - 5 years ago anyone could buy a fake Social Security card and photo ID for about $80 in parts of Houston. My understanding is that the price has gone up today. Guess what those fake documents get you....welfare, jobs, medical benefits and credit.

By law, asylum seekers have a year after they get here to apply for asylum.
The current group of asylum seekers is not "storming" the border. FFS they are 1000 miles away. It's going to be months before they even get close. In the meantime, many will apply for asylum in Mexico. Many will turn back. Only a small percentage will make it here to even ask for asylum.
This mass movement of asylum seekers has happened in many years before, because traveling in numbers is safer, and avoids the whole "coyote" issue. Some are just using this caravan as a fear mongering technique to scare the bigots.
Until the current administration changed it, there USED to be a process to apply for asylum while they were still in their own country. But the administration took that option away. Now, they have no choice but to "storm the border."
They have reduced the numbers of ppl who CAN move here legally, and want to take away "chain migration" which seems so short-sighted. If I were moving to a foreign country, I would think it would be easier to move to where I had family who might be able to help me find a place to live and a job without trying to rely on services. So, if you were trying to migrate to a country, and it was so difficult to do it that it could take decades, but life wasn't livable in your own country, maybe you'd decide to use the loopholes too. The loophole is that the law says that if you make it across our border, you have a year to apply for asylum.
The money it costs all of us to house immigrants and legal asylum seekers is outrageous. I'd much rather spend a whole lot less and help them, than to spend the hundreds of dollars each per day that we have to spend to house them. These ppl are perfectly capable of taking care of themselves given the chance.

We voluntarily work with refugees. It is a flexible agreement to allow for an as needed status.

It is not a law we are subject to. We are not governed by anything other than our laws.
We can refuse to participate the same way we just protected our service members by telling the world court to go piss up a rope.

Our laws are relevant. No one else's.

I'll tell what it says about to adamantly reject the illegal aliens.... It says I am tired.

I'm tired of having to repair fences, put hot wire around our wells and literally wear a pistol on my hip when walking or riding horses on our own property on the Rio Grande.

I'm tired of having to replace doors, piping, air conditioners, wiring and tires on our vehicles because these packs of people steal everything they see with potential resale value as they trespass on our land. I'm tired of them spooking our livestock or setting them up to have no water because someone stole another pump motor. I'm tired of the garbage and human excrement on the river banks and the accidental grass fires started by illegals without any concern for anyone else.

I'm really tired of not being able to have long term, permanent help by employing a great vaquero. Used to be a time when my Daddy would hire a permanent ranch worker and sponsor him and his wife for the path to citizenship via legal means. Those folks were willing and able to follow the legal steps for as long as it took.

I'm seriously tired of being told by people who don't actually live on the borders and deal with the problems declaring I'm a racist because I don't want criminals trashing/vandalizing my homestead and property. Our property taxes in two Texas towns have increased every two years to compensate for the expense the school districts are incurring annually with the non English speaking, transient kids brought here illegally. That's not OK. None of it is OK. It's enough.
