Two trucks getting low 10 at 50 gross, is the same as one truck at 80 getting 5. Now I realize at 80k the truck doing 10 at 50 will probably 8.5 or a little better, but hauling 20k net and trying to base mileage off that is just impractical.

I think you're still not understanding what I said in context. I was describing what @AModelCat was saying here

I am not advocating it at all.

All gliders are capped based on what there (the builders) highest production year was. Then diminishes a % every year moving forward.

It is the result of the recent 16 or so percentvstake acquired by VW Truck and Bus. It is heavily based off of VWs MAN Trucks D26 motor. VW and Navistar are working on a lot of things right now and I think Navistar is finally going in the right direction. I’m very pleased with it.

I agree. The Run on Less Campaign is not what most people will achieve. I included what I’m able to do for reference with my average gross weight. I’m thinking 8.6-8.7 is as good as I’m able to do. If I went with a downsped power train next time, maybe I’d get another .2 or so mpg? I want a spec that can get 9mpg doing my work and I think that would be the limit. But, Phase II regulations are coming in 21’, 24’, and 27’ that call for increased fuel economy. I’ll be interested to see what those can do.
