Have you got a link? I thought it was the bus company that had the violations. I thought the trucking company was clean (probably why Singh recently bought Adesh)

These charges are from Alberta, not Saskatchewan and they might not be directly connected to the Humboldt accident, although the investigation into the carrier was precipitated by the crash.
The charges likely do lay the ground work to remove the owner from this industry and make it easier for the inevitable civil suits. -
All log book related. Didn’t monitor the drivers, running two logs, didn’t keep proper records of logs.
tinytim Thanks this. -
Typical for these companies and their owners.
magoo68 Thanks this. -
Within days of the crash I suspect everything he owned was put under someone else’s name.. he will just recoup the money by paying the next driver a few pennies less in a company he doesn’t own but he takes care of behind the scenes .. Instead of shutting these guys down after deaths they need to do these inspections earlier and close them..PS The new crop is pretty scary the first snowfall I got put on the shoulder 5 times in 10 hrs due to them being 2 feet over the line

I see.....they audited him. Standard procedure after an event like that.
Looks like they found 4 bad log sheets in the 180 day period. I’m surprised it wasn’t worse. Could be as simple as a driver screwing up on his logs and the boss didn’t check them and reprimand the driver as he is required to do. He’ll just plead guilty since the company is soon to be out of business anyway
“They include seven federal charges: two counts of failing to maintain logs for drivers hours of service, three counts of failing to monitor the compliance of a driver under safety regulations, and two counts of having more than one daily log for any day. The eighth charge under provincial regulations alleges failure to have or follow a written safety program.”tinytim Thanks this. -
The case involving Jaskirat Sidhu, the semi truck driver in the Humboldt Broncos crash in April, is once again adjourned.
Satnam Aujla, Sidhu's lawyer, appeared on his client's behalf over the phone in Calgary where he told Judge Inez Cardinal him and Crown prosecutor Thomas Healey agreed to adjourn the case until Nov. 27 due to a large amount of disclosure.
Healey wasn't in court, but had another prosecutor representing the Crown. Healey mentioned during the previous court appearance on Oct. 2 he wanted to stay on as Crown counsel for the case.
The case will resume on Tuesday, Nov. 27 at 9:30 am in Melfort Provincial Court for defence election and plea. If Sidhu pleads not guilty, he can elect to be tried by a judge and jury, or judge alone.
Humboldt Broncos truck driver case adjourned due to amount of Crown disclosure -
"If he pleads not guilty"
Of course he'll plead not guilty. No lawyer worth his salt would enter a guilty plea. -
Adjournments at this stage are no big deal. As stated in @tinytim's post, there is a huge amount of disclosure; reports, interviews, pictures, reconstruction evidence, historical on the driver, the company, etc. Courts just set a future date according to their calendar and then as that date arrives if either side hasn't been given sufficient time they set a new date. So long as it isn't due to fumbling on the part of the Crown, there is no concern of a Jordan application.
