I hate to say it, but you better not shop at K-Mart and Save-a-lot either...we also haul for them. Also don't buy any P&G, Armor Hammer, Castrol (BP), John Deere, Kimberly Clark, Whirlpool, Best Buy...oh heck...just don't buy anything.

I'm sorry to hear about you having to delay the house purchase. But to be honest my wife and I have been delaying the build on our dream house for the past two years because of the economy and we are business owners with a eye towards the future. We just couldn't see having a bigger house payment and the economy being stabill (sp) enough for our liking.

Hell, I just started a new job last week. And my dispatcher has questioned me 3 times to date, about how I felt about the job and the miles. Like he's concerned I'm going to quit at any moment.

I got all the miles I wanted for the week. I'm home until sunday evening.. Happier than a fly on #### :D

And oh yeh ! I took a .04 per mile cut in pay for this job. But I'm home :D Eating in my kitchen...sleeping in my bed for the next few nights.

Where I work we get a guaranteed pay check each week.. What this means is that even if I sit all week at home, and not work, I still get paid. The weather and economy plays a big part in how much I make each week. The guarantee pay is not much around $450 take home, but it is still better than a zero take home check.. Most of our competitors don't offer their drivers that kind of pay. So if their home for a week because of weather their check is a big fat "O".

So when fellow drivers at my job complain about the guarantee pay, I remind them that the company doesn't have to offer it, our competitors don't offer it to their drivers, it is better than nothing, and that usually makes the happy to have a job again..

I think you've been a little too brainwashed by CNN and other major media outlets. Obama's regime of fear has scared you into working more and more for less and less.

Come to southern California, I am looking to sell a nice median priced house so I can move to the Ozarks and live the good life, Oh wait, you can't even give a house away out here, let alone sell one and get out with any cash in hand. I am 67 and was downsized on Dec. 31st, because I drove truck back in the late seventys and early eighties, I know the drill, It has been going on way before now, but I know I can get a job and make money because I will go to Wally World and Sams Club to shop then get in a truck and work my butt off for whatever they are willing to pay me. In the eary Eightys there was a major recession and you know when I found out? last year when the bottom dropped out of the job and housing market out here, they started talking about how bad the recession in 82 was, I made $83,000 driving some one elses truck in 82, Fast forward to 2009, waiting for Unemployment to pay the way thru driving school to get retrained in the new ways of doing things in order to get my CDL back, mean time I got my CDL permit and health card and spent two days this week driving a tanker full of water off Palomar Mountain in So Cal. learing to shift again and driving the narrow twisting two lanes to get the feel of driving again ( GOD IT FEELS GOOD TO DRIVE AGAIN!!!!!) My whole point is that you go ahead and try to stir crap against your company, you could have been put on the street and maybe I could have got your job and out hauled you and made more earnings because I like to drive not complain.

And a last thought, the money you get paid most likely is done thru borrowed money, the company gets a short term loan to make payroll, the way the loan market has dried up, yes even for a co as large as Schneider will have problems getting cash at times, they need to keep as much cash as possible ( Its known as liquid assetts) for such expenditures and to freeze wages is a good way to help do that.
