Before I became a driver, part of my job was investigating patterns of 419 advanced fee fraud. I would review written correspondences and I could always tell if the dude was a native living in Lagos with no chance of ever leaving, or if he was probably an educated Nigerian guy living in London, based solely on their vernacular. Someone who has been in London for several years would not use as much "pidgin" and they would have a more refined tone. Perhaps they would be more convincing since they wouldn't try to order 55 ####er spaniel puppies to be air mailed to Lagos. In any case, it was all the same. We'd nail them to the cross when we found them. Take their IP addresses and call them back using prepaid cards and pose as their victims to get more insight on how they operate. The best was sending them to Western Union over and over and over, and over, to pick up money that we never sent. I think one guy wrote me saying, "God go purnish you ooooooo" or something, "I no be mumu for lagos ole like u guy! am a man of teh LORD ooooooo" That was a great job until we all got laid off
